Objective: To observe the curative effect of tonifying qi and blood manipulation treatment of vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis due to deficiency of qi and blood, and to explore its mechanism. Methods: 60 patients diagnosed as vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis due to deficiency of qi and blood were randomly divided into 2 groups. 30 cases in treatment group were remedied with the tonifying qi and blood maneuver, while the other 30 ones belonged to control group were received the conventional manipulation. Both the two groups were treated once 2 days. Each course of treatment included 6 therapies. Curative effect evaluation, including effectiveness, the score of symptom and the index of TCD, was begun after 2 courses. Results: The vertigo score of two groups had an significant difference before and after treatment(P<0.01), and the score after the treatment had a significant difference between two group(sP<0.05). The nausea and vomiting score of two groups had an extremely significant difference before and after the treatment(p<0.05 or P<0.01), and the score after the treatment had a significant difference between two groups(P<0.05). The lower of tinnitus and audition score of two groups had no difference before and after the treatment(P>0.05), and the score after treatment also had no difference between two groups (P>0.05). The invisibility score of two groups had an extremely significant difference before and after the treatmen(tp<0.05 or P<0.01),and the score after the treatment had a significant difference between two groups(P<0.05). The stiff of neck and shoulder muscle group score of two groups had an extremely significant difference before and after the treatment(p<0.05 or P<0.01),and the score after the treatment had a significant difference between two groups(P<0.05). After treatment, to compare both groups'effective rate: P<0.05. In TCD index aspect , the treatment group improved the blood flow rate of the vertebra-basilar artery was superior to the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01). So the two groups both had curative effect , but the treatment group had a better curative effect than the control group. Conclusion: Both the tonifying qi and blood massage manipulation and the conventional manipulation therapy can relieve the vertigo and headache, nausea and vomiting and so on. The curative effect of the tonifying qi and blood massage manipulation is better in the aspect of alleviating the patient'vertigo , nausea and vomiting, invisibility and stiff of neck and shoulder muscle group than the conventional manipulation, but they have no difference in relieving the lower of tinnitus and audition. The tonifying qi and blood massage manipulation is easier to manipulate, faster to make effects than the conventional manipulation, cost less, and has no side effects. So the tonifying qi and blood massage manipulation is much easier to accept by patients and it can be worthy to be spread as an effective treatment of vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis due to deficiency of qi and blood.
