Study.Design A reliability and validity study of a translated, culturally adaptedChinese version of Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score。Objective The aims of the present study were to translate the Knee Injury andOsteoarthritis Outcome Score(KOOS) into Chinese, perform its cross-culturaladaptation for Chinese patients with knee injury or osteoarthritis, and toinvestigate its validity and test-retest reliability。Evaluate the feasibilityof assessing the scale on knee injury or osteoarthritis patients in China。Methods The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the English versionquestionnaire was performed,158 patients with Knee Injury or Osteoarthritis wereincluded in our study using the translated, culturally adapted Chinese versionof KOOS。Patients who participated in this study should be clinically screened, and established a set of including criteria。The inpatients and outpatients wereevaluated by completeing the two questionnaires containing the KOOS and SF-36,And then repeated them again in 1 week later on the same patients。Collected thedata and used statistical analysis。Reliability was evaluated using internalconsistency and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)。validity wasmeasured by comparing the Chinese version of the KOOS results to SF-36。Results The KOOS showed ideal test-retest reliability as evidenced by the highICC for 2 test occasions(ICC>0.7,P<0.05)。Also,internal consistency was foundto be adequate at both assessments with the Cronbach's alpha coefficient>0.7(P<0.05)。The correlation between KOOS and SF-36>0.7(P<0.05)。The results showedsignificant correlation among the two。Conclusion The results of our study show that KOOS as a functional statusquestionnaire has been translated into Chinese without losing the psychometricproperties of the original version。The Chinese version of the KOOS has goodcomprehensibility, internal consistency and validity and is an adequate and usefulinstrument for the evaluation of patients with Knee Injury or Osteoarthritis inChina。...
