Purpose:To observe and study the early clinical efficacy of total knee arthroplasty in patients with varying degrees of knee varus.Method:Between october 2014 to october 2016,67 patients(90knees)with varus deformity that treated by TKA were selected for the study in the department of Orthopedic Surgery of First Hospital of Jilin University.The oldest patient was 75 years old,the youngest was 48 years old,the average age was 63.51 ± 5.65 years old.There are 19 male patients,accounting for 28.36%,48 female patients,accounting for71.64%.90 cases of knee joint according to modified version of Krackow knee varus classification were divided into type ?,type ?,type ?,Among three groups of patients: type ?: 38 cases,type ?: 30 cases,type ?: 22 cases.The mean value of varus angle was 8.05 ± 3.40 degrees in type I patients and 14.67 ± 2.59 degrees in type II patients,and 25.18 ± 2.70 degrees in type III patients.All patients showed knee pain and mobility limited.The HSS score and knee joint activity were recorded before and after operation.Result:All patients were followd up for 5-48 months(mean 20.7 months).In addition to 1 case of infection after knee arthroplasty,the other patients were no such complications,such as thrombosis,infection and so on.There was no significant difference in knee joint activity between different groups before operation(H = 1.972,p = 0.373).There were significant differences in knee joint activity between different groups after operation(H = 31.597,p <0.001).The highest degree of activity is the group of type I(average of 107.5°),followed by type II(average of102.5°),type III(average of 95.0°)was the lowest,the differences were statistically significant(p <0.05).Comparing the results of different groups before and after operation,the degree of knee joint activity after treatment was improved,and the differences were statistically significant(p <0.05).The difference of HSS score between different groups was statistically significant(F = 24.595,p <0.001).The highest HSS score is in group of type?(92.50 ± 2.61 points),followed by type ?(89.57±3.25 points)and the lowest in type ?(86.86±3.47 points),and statistically significant(p <0.05).The scores of HSS were improved after TKA in different groups,and the differences were statistically significant(p <0.05).Conclusion:1.TKA has a significant effect on mild,moderate and severe knee varus deformity,and the overall patient satisfaction is high.2.There was a negative correlation between preoperative knee varus and postoperative HSS score.3.There was no significant correlation between preoperative knee varus and preoperative knee joint activity.
