Objective:To explorethe the value of three-dimensional(3D) volume ultrasound in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Methods:Atotal of 83 thyroid nodules in 63 patients were examined with three- dimensional volume ultrasono-graphy based on the informations of Two- -dimensional. To observe the sonogra-phic features of thyroid nodules with three-dimensional:shape, margin, halo, internal texture, echogenicity, homogenicity and calcifification; To observe the sonographic features of thyroid nodules with three-dimensional color energy: dilatated, distortedand irregular distributed vessels. To analyes the feature of thyroid nodules in the 3D ultrasound and 3D power Doppler ultrasound, and all features were confirmed by pathology. To assess the value of three-dimensional (3D) volume ultrasound in differentiating benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Results:There is significant difference in sonographic features between the benign and malignant thyroid nodules of 3D ultrasound and 3D power Doppler ultrasound. The sensitivity of shape, internal textureand echogenicity are 90.1%,93.4%,93.4%, the specificity of shape and miniature calcifification are 90%,94%. Conclusions:Three-dimensional (3D) volume ultrasound imaging can evaluate the features of 3D ultrasound and 3D power Doppler ultrasound, and provide more information of the thyroid nodules and great value in diagnosising and differentitating thyroid nodules.
