Objective:To investgate epidemiological features of mumps and mumps immunization status of children in Shihezi City from 2005 to 2009 by Statistical analysis according to network reporting system of infectious diseases, and analyze mumps vaccine inoculation rate of antibody-positive of children aged from 1 to 8 years old in Shihezi city, therefore provide the basis for policy of formulating and adjusting of mumps prevention and control. Method:(1)Epidemiology of mumps and epidemic data analysis in Shihezi City from 2005 to 2009 by the method of retrospective investigation were done. (2)769 cases of children aged from 1.5 to 8 year-old which has been vaccinated with mumps vaccine were enrolled according to the method of probability proportional to size (PPS), and their mumps IgG antibodies of qualitative determination were done by the original enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results:(1) 771 cases of mumps were reported in Shihezi City from 2005 to 2009, the average annual incidence rate was 45.95/10 million, the overall incidence rate showed a rising trend and has seasonal diffrence, which showed June was the month of most cases reprted in the whole year, peak incidence was formed when the spring turn into summer, and morbidity was significantly higher in the male, and male to female ratio is 1.909:1. The most frequently reported age is from 4 to 19 year-old in the case reports, which accounting for 83.11% of the total number of reported cases. The ratio of students to the total number of reported cases is 71.08%, the preschool children accounted for 22.31%, the children with mumps vaccination history accounted for 31.65%. In those cases in children aged from 1 to 8 year-old, there is a history of mumps vaccine accounted for 48.77%. (2) According to investigation of immunization status of children aged from 1 to 8 year-old with mumps in Shihezi city, the average antibody positive rate was 54.23%. Group of aged 1.5 to 2 year-old had the lowest antibody positive rate (31.15%), group of aged 2 to 4 year-old had the highest antibody positive rate (67.19%), antibody levels showed a decline trend with age increasing in the group of aged 2 to 4 year-old age, and showed statistical significance by chi-square test for trend (x2=477.22, P<0.005).There was no significant difference in mumps antibody positive rate between male and female(x2=0.077, P>0.05). Antibody positive rate of the resident children was higher than that of temporary residents (x2=3.92, P<0.05). Conclusion:(1)The incidence rate of mumps showed a rising trend in Shihezi City from 2005 to 2009, morbidity was significantly higher in the male, students in school with collective life is the highest risk group.(2) Mumps antibody levels of children aged from 1 to 8 year-old with mumps in Shihezi city which had vaccinated with a frist mumps vaccine remain at a low level, and antibody levels was a downward trend increased with age, so the 2 doses vaccination program is recommended.
