Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics and incidence trends of mumps in lujiang county from 2008 to 2013,and to discuss the outbreak causes of Mumps,so as to provide the scientific evidence to improve of infectious disease control and prevention. Methods Descriptive epidemiological and Circular distribution methods were adopted to analyze the data of mumps prevalence obtained from lujiang national disease reporting system during 2008 to 2013.At the same time, a total of 86 children were diagnosed during 2012 with epidemic parotitis and epidemiological data were collected, following descriptive analysis. Comparison between different groups was performed using chi-square tests for categorical data,so as to explore the mumps outbreak causes and control measures. Results The number of cases reported from 2008 to 2013 was 1294,the annual average incidence was 18.80 per 100000,The reported incidence of mumps showed an upward trend in general.the incidence rate of 2010 was 2.97 per 100000,to reach the minimum, the reported incidence was 49.05 per 100000 in 2012, to achieve the highest. The peak period of mumps was from April to July, The irregular peak was showed from autumn to winter. Circular distribution analysis showed that cultivated mumps disease has obvious seasonal peak,The incidence peak point was May 1 and the peak area from January 25 to August 7. 70.87% mumps cases were in children aged 5 to 14 years old. Cases were mainly the children in school, accounting for 78.28%, But the proportion has a downward trend year by year. The result suggested a higher predominance of mumps in males than females, The ratio was 1.94: l, and a significancewas found between males and females. Mumps outbreak had occurred in schools, heavily populated areas report incidence is higher. The school mumps outbreak lasted for a long period of time and spread widely among the children. Data indicated that the percentage of class with mumps was 76.19% in all classes. The positive rate of mumps in all students was 6.94%, The rate of inoculated children with mumps was only 5.81%, and majority of disease occurred among the children without immunization. Our data also showed that this outbreaks largely threatened toddlers at 6-11 years of age, up to 94.19% of all. Conclusion Mumps incidence report higher overall in lujiang county, which has obvious seasonal peak, the total incidence peak point was May 1, the peak area from late January to early August.Cases were mainly the children in school,Mumps outbreak had occurred in schools. This paper suggested that effective prevention and control measures should be carried out around the peak area, strictly implementing the system of inspection vaccination certificate in preschool, achieving and sustaining high coverage rate of 2-dose mumps vaccination.
