Objective To investigate the expression and distribution of CC chemokine receptor-2 (CCR2) in oral submucous fibrosis (OSF), and further discuss the pathological mechanism of OSF.Methods The SABC immunohistochemistry was used for detecting the expression and distribution of CCR2 in 5 normal controllers and 30 cases of victims who suffered from OSF (10 cases of early, intermediate and advanced stage, respectively). The staining intensity and positive reaction were observed and the positive cells were counted. Results (1)The expression of CCR2 protein was mainly in the submucosal connective tissue of inflammatory cells, fibroblasts, and vascular endothelial cells. While the expression of CCR2 in epithelium was negative or weak positive.(2) A slight positive expression of CCR2 protein was detected in normal oral mucosa, and asignificant increasing of expression could be found in every stage OSF(P<0.05).Compared with intermediate and advanced stages, the expression of CCR2 of early stage OSF was highest(P<0.05), no significant difference was found in the expression between the intermediate and advanced stage OSF(P>0.05).Conclusions The upgrade expression of CCR2 have been found in OSF,and the early stage was the highest.CCR2 was the specific chemotaxin receptor which may contribute to the pathogenisis of OSF.
