Objective:Macrovascular complications in type 2 diabetes mainly include cardiovascular disease , cerebrovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease,of which the basic pathological changes are Atherosclerosis. Carotid Atherosclerosis, reflecting the systemic Atherosclerosis, had been confirmed to be strongly correlated to subclinical and clinical cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events . CAS is believed to be a major risk factor that can predict stroke .Currently, too much literature is intmiately related to the risk factors for type 2 diabetes with carotid atherosclerosis . There are mainly 12 factors in research ,including course of disease , age , body mass index (BMI),glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose(FBG),systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), lower density lipoprotein- cholesterol (LDL-C),high density lipoprotein- cholesterol (HDL-C), fibrinogen (FIB) and so on . The results vary , and large difference exists between the carotid atherosclerosis group and the one without carotid atherosclerosis.Through literature retrieval to obtain the papers intmiately related to the risk factors for type 2 Diabetes with carotid atherosclerosis . According to strict standard of inclusion and exclusion ,to bring in case control study between the carotid atherosclerosis group and the one without carotid atherosclerosis. High sensitivity B-mode ultrasound was used to exam carotid artery to group .9 papers were included into the meta-analysis to study the risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis in patients with type 2 diabetes ( T2DM ). To search for critical risk factors of CAS , and to make a better understanding of atherosclerosis in patients with T2DM .early and comprehensive risk factor intervention is significant for both the prevention of macrovascular disease and reduction of cardiovascular event.Methods:9 papers related were selected ,in all,by using literature retrieval . RevMan 4.2.2 software was used for meta-analysis.Results:The key risk factors such as course of disease , age , glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), systolic blood pressure (SBP), triglyceride ( TG), lower density lipoprotein- cholesterol ( LDL- C), and fibrinogen (FIB) (P<0.01) affected the happening of carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients , but the factors of body mass index (BMI), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) , fasting blood glucose(FBG),total cholesterol (TC) and high density lipoprotein- cholesterol (HDL-C) did not statistically influence carotid atherosclerosis (P > 0.05).Conclusion:The age, course of T2DM , HbA1c, systolic blood pressure , TG , LDL- C , and fibrinogen are firstly determined as the important risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients, which can provide a basis for early detection and diagnosis of carotid atherosclerosis in clinic.
