Objective:This study discusses the clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture therapy combined with skin scraping in patients with the cervical spondylosis, assesses the safety of the treatment and explores its mechanism, with the aim of providing a better clinical method for treating the cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type. Methods:Following the random, parallel and comparison principle, this study divided 60 patients into two groups, one treatment group by the skin scraping along with acupuncture therapy and one comparison group treated by acupuncture. Each gorup equally consisted of 30 patients. The study proceeded to monitor the change of each group interms of symptoms score, daily life and work rate, psychological and social adjustment score before and after the treatment. It further appraised the safety of the treatment and paid follow-up visits to the patients 3months after the treatment. Results:â‘ The result from the baseline of each group was similar (P>0.05).â‘¡Both groups showed significant improvement in symptoms score (p<0.05), daily life and work rate(p<0.05), psychological and social adjustment score(p<0.05) before and after the treatment. After the treatment, however, there was a significant difference between the two groups in symptoms, daily life and work rate, psychological and social adjustment score. The recovery rate, significant efficiency and effective rate of the treatment group were respectively 6.70%,50.00% and 33.3%, with a total effective rate up to 90.00%, while the recovering rate, significant efficiency and effective rate of the control group were 3.30%,16.70% and 63.30% respectively, with a total effective rate of 83.30%. By comparison, the treatment group had a much better result in the total effect rate (P<0.05), while both groups showed the safety of the treatment without any unhealthy reaction.â‘¢The follow-up visits to the patients 3months after the treatment showed no significant difference in recrudescence rate. Conclusion:The therapy of skin scraping combining acupuncture is more obvious than acupuncture therapy in alleviating the diziness and headache of patients with the cervical spondylosis and improving the quality of their life and work, their social and psychological adaptability. Moreover, this method is safe and operable.
