Objective:According to contrasting on the massage and acupuncture on the Knee osteoarthritis, to explore the treatment mechanism of Knee osteoarthritis by massage on meridians and points at the early and middle stage.Methods:1. Collect 60 cases with early and middle stage KOA, divided into the treatment group and control group randomly. To use the massage on meridians and point to treat 30 patients (the treatment group) and other 30 patients with acupuncture (the control group). The therapeutic course is four weeks. Then we observed the following aspects:the therapeutic effect of symptoms and signs, the degree of the pain,the mark of knee joint function, TCM systemic syndrome score and safety index. After three months, we visited the patients again.2. Summarizing and judging the etiology and treatment by using Chinese and modern medicine.Results:(1) Evaluating the therapeutic effects after four weeks'treatment:the controled and remarkable effective rate of the experiment group is 86.67% and the whole effective rate is 96.67%, while the control group is only 56.67% and 83.33%, two groups have statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The treatment group is more significant than control group (2) Evaluating the degree of the pain, the present symptoms, the objective sign, the mark of knee joint function and the Chinese physicians'judgement, After treatment, as above shown, we can see that the treatment group has obvious advantages over control group in therapeutic efficacy (P<0.05).Conclusions:To use massage on meridians at early and middle stage of KOA,which can effectively improve pain,morning stiffness joint swelling,joint function and systemic symptoms, and this method is safe and reliable, so it has great perspects.
