ObjectiveObserve the clinical effect of dredging collaterals and relieving pain treatment on knee osteoarthritis (KOA).MethodsWe collected Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) patients in Massage Department of Guang’anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese medical sciences from Feb.2011-Feb.2012.30cases (18men and12women) aged40-70years old, with3-20years disease history (average9.21±3.25years) were selected, according to the symptoms, signs, imaging diagnosis standard, inclusion and exclusion criteria. Treat once a day by acupuncture point、One finger zen、According to knead patella on reinforcement method、Push the patella treatment、popliteal tendon method、lower limb extensor comprehensive manual reinforcement methodThen compare the pain feeling, knee function, knee flexibility, muscle strength, knee flexion deformity and stability after1and2months.Results1.6cases (20%) were clinically controlled,16cases (53.4%) had marked effect,6cases (20%) had effective effect,2cases (6.6%) exhibit ineffective, and effective rate is93.4%after treatment for2months; however,2cases (6.6%) were clinically controlled,11cases (36.7%) had marked effect,9cases (30%) had effective effect,8cases (26.7%) exhibit ineffective, and effective rate is73.3%(P<0.05) after treatment for1months. Treatment for2months is superior to1months, which exhibited statistical significance (P<0.05).2. Muscle strength was significantly improved after massage therapy in patients; the results exhibited statistical significance before and after treatment (P<0.05). Treatment for2months is superior to1months, which exhibited statistical significance (P<0.05). 3. The pain feeling, function, flexibility, knee flexion deformity and stability of the patients also had statistical significance (P<0.05). Treatment for2months is superior to1months, which exhibited statistical significance (P<0.05).Conclusions1. Massage therapy can relieve pain feeling, improve knee joint function, knee flexibility, knee flexion deformity, and enhance muscle strength and stability of the KOA patients.2. Massage therapy has proven efficacy and minimum side effects which is easy for the patients to accept.
