Clinical Research Of Ovulation Failure Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome With Abdominal Acupuncture

BackgroundPolycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) is a hyperendemic and complex endocrinal disease with unknown causes. The incidence rate in women of childbearing age is 10%～15%, which is 30%～40% of the apogenic female patients. Its treatment is a great matter of delicacy, and there is on exactly effective methods. Up to now, this disease is a hotspot and nodus in the endocrinology and the endocrinology.The Abdominal-acupunture is a new therapy that sorted out by professor Bo Zhiyun, which is basic on the Chinese medicine theory and the navel-control system. It is proved to be good at treating chronic diseases which is pertaining to the viscera.ObjectiveThis clinical study is to investigate the safty and validity of treating PCOS anovulation with Abdominal-acupuncture through small and randomized sample research, and then try to find a new effectiv treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome.MethodsTo select 60 standards-compliant PCOS patients, and divide them into two groups averagely which are Abdominal-acupuncture group and Western-medicine group. One group will take a treatment as follows:1,the Abdominal-acupunture groupPrescription:Conducting the Qi Back to Its Origin(Zhongwan Ren12, Xiawan Ren10, Qihai Ren6, Guanyuan Ren4), Zhongji(RN3), Dahe(KI12); Shuidao(ST28), lower-rheumatism Points, Qixue(KI13), all of both sides. The treatment will begin from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. In the first 3 days,it will be done every day for 30min, then changes into every two days.30 days will be a course, and it will be 3 courses totally. Before the treatment, we should use the progesterone to caused withdrawal bleeding in an amenorrhea patient.2,the Western-medicine group:ClomiphenePrescription:50mg po qd, for 5 days, begin from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle.30 days will be a course, and there will be 3 courses. Before the treatment, we should use the progesterone to caused withdrawal bleeding in an amenorrhea patient.During the courses, if there is an amenorrhea, we will use the progesterone to caused withdrawal bleeding before starting the treatment; And if there is a preceeded menorrhea, we will begin another course from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle.All patients will take 3 courses/months of those treatments and a month of follow-up observation. The details of their menstruations, the BBT (basal body temperature) and the main sex hormones (FSH, LH, T, E2) will be recorded. And the menstruation, the BBT and the ovulation will be tightly observed during the courses. Then we will evaluate the effects of treating the PCOS with the Abdominal-acupunture.ResultsWhen finished the research, we summed up the results by comparing the menstruation, the BBT and the ovulation of both groups, as follows:1,Comparing the menstruation and the BBT states with themselves'before and after, we find that there are notable improvement in both groups.2,The improvement of menstruation in the Abdominal-acupuncture group is more remarkable, that is, Abdominal-acupuncture can do better in improving the PCOS patients'menstrual states.3,The effects of both therapies to improve the anovulaton and the BBT states are remarkable and almost the same.4,We find that the total effects of both therapies are the same.5,By comparing the menstruation and the BBT states in the follow-up observation of both groups, we find that the long-term effects of the Abdominal-acupuncture are more obvious. To sum up, the effects of Abdominal-acupuncture of treating PCOS' anovulation are almost the same with the Clomiphene's, but more remarkable in improving the menstruation and the long-term therapeutic effects.ConclusionsThe Abdominal-acupuncture therapy can improve the ovulation failure, the menstruation and the BBT states of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, which are almost the same with the Clomiphene's. However, the Abdominal acupuncture is superior to clomiphene in regulating the menstruation, and also the long-term therapeutic effects of the menstruation and the BBT states.In brief, the Abdominal-acupuncture therapy is a new effective treatment of the PCOS anovulation, which is worth to be further researched and applied.
