Purpose1. This study investigates the quality of life and psychological health of the patients infectedwith HIV/AIDS in Yuncheng.2. We present the important experience of the patients and explore the factors that affected theirlife quality.3. We also study the change of anxiety and depression by psychological intervention.ObjectSelect three towns which have large number of AIDS patients. The research's objects arepeople infected with HIV/AIDS whose age between 18 and 65, and the total number is 157.Then we selected 66 patients who have anxiety or depression tendency to do further intervention.Through the purpose sample, we choose 11 people infected with HIV/AIDS as the objects ofdepth interview.Research methods1. Quantitative research methodsThis study choose the SF - 36 health questionnaires, medical coping styles questionnaire,social support scale, anxiety and depression scale .We test the 157 patients with thesequestionnaires and scales in order to analysis the quality of life and its influencing factors.Besides,we choose 66 patients who meet the rule to exert individual and group interventionand evaluate its effect .2. Qualitative research methodsConsidering this sensitive topic about AIDS, we use the individual in-depthinterviews .The study use the method of qualitative research to analyze the related factors.Results1. The results of present investigation(1) We investigate 157 HIV/AIDS patients with survival quality scales . The result shows thatthe factor scores except general health, physical pain are significant different with the nationalnorm. The scores of men of emotional function are higher than the scores of women in thequality of life(P<0.01). In general health, energy, social function and emotional functions, eachfactor score of the HIV/AIDS patients who has a spouse were higher than those who has nospouse(P<0.01).(2) In the Medical Coping Modes score of 157 HIV infected / AIDS patients, the scores of theface factor and the avoid factor are significant differences with the national norm(P<0.05). Andthe scores of the face factor is lower than the national norm(P<0.01)while the scores of theavoid factor is higher than the national norm. The women and men were significantly different infacing factor(P<0.01). The scores of men are high than the scores of women. On yield factor,women and men have significant differences(P<0.05), and the scores of women are higher than those of men. On the yield factor scores, women and men have no difference(P>0.01). On theyield factor, the scores of the patients with spouse are higher than those patients with no spouse.(3) There were no significant difference of social support score in patients with different sexes,different marital status. In the comparison of the different education levels, the patients withelementary education gain more than those with no education in the subjective support(P<0.05).(4) The female patients gain depression tendency than male patient from the scores of depressionscale the patients with no spouse have depression tendency. In the life quality scale, scores of thepatient without depressive state were higher than the patient with depressive state. In anxietyscale, the scores in each factors of life quality of tha patient without anxiety states were higherthan patients who have anxiety states.(5) Stepwise regression results show that marriage, the heavy work limits, objective support,yield and anxiety are the main factors which affect patients'quality of life.2. Intervention study resultsThe scores of anxiety and depression are decreased after the intervention in these twogroups. The scores of these factors have improved while the score of except energy has notchanged outside. Besides, the changes have significantly statistical significance after theintervention in Jiangxian group. And the scores of these factors have improved in Xiaxian groupand the changes have significantly statistical significance after the intervention. In coping stylesfactors, the scores of facing increase while the scores of yield factor and avoid factor becomelow. And the changes have significantly statistical significance after the intervention.After theintervention, subjective support and support scores have improved in Jiangxian group.Meanwhile, support of total score, subjective support points and the use of support haveimproved in Xiaxian group, and the changes have significantly statistical significance after theintervention.Two groups'subjective well-being level are improved after the intervention,and thedifference are statistically significant.3. Qualitative research results(1)The patients'character will change after infected HIV.(2) there are extremist sentiments crisis in the patients after told the infection.(3) The patient may have negative emotion experience while they are ill.(4) Different beliefs and values of the patients could have a positive or negative impact on thelife quality of these patients.(5) They may change their social support system.(6) Patients'self-role cognition may change a little.(7) Different ways to cope can produce different effect on the quality of life.Conclusion1. The life quality of patients infected with HIV/AIDS are in a low level.2. The psychological intervention can improve HIV/AIDS patient's social support, coping styles,anxiety and depression status. 3. Using quantitative research and qualitative research,this study can be carried out more deeplyin exploring the related factors that affected the life quality of HIV/AIDS patients.
