The Analysis On Scientific Research Strength Of Maternity And Child Health Institutions Of Shanxi Province

ObjectivesThis study is to survey the rsearch situation of hygienic personnel, research funds, scientific research achievements, teaching management of maternity and child health institutions in Shanxi Province at three-levels from 2006 to 2009,comparing the scientific research strength of maternity and child health institutions among different levels, different regions,evaluating the overall scientific research strength of maternity and child health institutions in Shanxi Province, so as to provide basis for raising the overall scientific research level of maternity and child health institutions, formulate scientific research management policise and regimes for maternity and child health institutions.MethodsCollecting original datas include fundamental state of institutions, professional title and education background of hygienic, scientific research funds, scientific research achievements, teaching management of 131 maternity and child health institutions in Shanxi Province from 2006 to 2009 using the integrate questionnaires of maternity and child health centre of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, entering datas using Excel2007, statistical analysis datas using SPSS18.0.Mean calculation is adopted in comparing measurement data, while categorical data are analyzed in the method of percentage, proportion calculation, x~2 Assa and Kruskal Wallis Assa.ResultsThe hygienic and technical personnel quantity of the maternity and child care centers has increased 20.4% from 2006 to 2009. The change of technical title composition is not big, the intermediate technical titles and the assistant technical titles accounts for above 70%, the senior technical titles and senior vice titles accounts for small proportion. The ratios of senior technical titles,the senior vice titles ,the intermediate titles,the assistant titles and the low grade titles are 1:3.7:24.2:29.3:11.7 in 2009, the senior technical titles of provincial agency is much higher than the other two level institutions, the differences of technical title composition among the institutions of area under administration are not significant. The change of academic composition is large, the doctor degree and master degree accounts for smaller proportion, the college degree or under accounts for maximum percentage. The ratios of doctor degree, the master degree,the bachelor degree and the college degree or under are 1:11.2:114.6:327.6 in 2009, there are differences of academic composition among all institutions in three levels,the doctor degree and master degree composions of provincial agency are obviously higher than the other two level institutions, there are not differences of the doctor degree and master degree in 11 cities.The total scientific research funds of the maternity and child care centers have increased from 2006 to 2009.Among them, the funds of apply for have increased; the funds of funded by the agency have increased obviously from 2006 to 2008, the funds of 2009 are less than one-tenth of that of 2006 .There are obvious advantages of provincial level institutions in terms of funds.The professional and technical personnel of maternity and child care centers have published 1837 articles in at or above the provincial level magazines from 2006 to 2009, on average, each agency 14.02 articles, every year 459.25 articles; write and participated in 37 professional books, on average, every year 9.25 books; undertake 145 projects,on average, every year 36.25 projects; provincial agency scientific research achievements count than city level and county level; the scientific research projects which have won the prize account for 8.97% from 2006 to 2009.There are 11 maternity and child care centers which supply internship in 2009; there are five teaching hospitals, accounts for 3.82%; five teaching hospitals undertake 890 classse teaching task.ConclutionsThe maternity and child health institutions in Shanxi Province have developed with a steady pace.The quantity of the hygienic personnel have increased. The education background is low and the professional title is unreasonable of the hygienic personnel;the quantities of scientific research funds are not balanced;the quantities of scientific research achievements are less and the grades of scientific research achievements are low;the quantity of teaching hospitals are less and the teaching interactions are less with the medical colleges and schools.
