Study Of The Development Trend Of The Shanxi Provincial Health Department 10 Years Of Scientific And Technological Achievements Of The Immediate Medical And Health Units

Aim: The thesis makes an analysis of the prized scientific and technological achievements, which are gained from 1996 to 2005, in health and medical institutes, directly under the Department of Public Health of Shanxi Province, explores the development and existing problems of the achievements in these institutes with some suggestions, provides references for adjusting academic structure, scientific projects and research and makes the research management creative in ideas, methods etc in order to adapt to the new situation. Methodology: The data of the prized scientific and technological achievements are secured from raw materials and documents in Archives Room in the Department of Public Health of Shanxi Province, and from the book, Collection of the Prize of Science and Technology Progress in Health and Medical Institutes, Directly under the Department of Public Health of Shanxi Province, compiled by the Department of Public Health of Shanxi Province, then the data are dealt with and analyzed statistically.Results: The number of the prizes, gained by the health and medical institutes, is 298, not including scientific and technological works. The shares of the first prizes and the second prizes are strikingly improved, however, the share of the first prizes are still low. The first prize winners' records of formal schooling, ages and professional job titles are getting more and more rational. Among them those aged 40 to 49 are the main force in medical and scientific research. Prized achievements are mainly clinical practices. The source of the achievements in which expenditures play an important role has been developed from inner-plan projects to outside-plan projects. The level of the prized achievements has been gradually improved, and the share of the achievements, which catch up with the advanced world level, is increasing significantly. Conclusion: the lack of expenditures in scientific and technology items widely exists, which limits the institutes' development and research level. Therefore, personnel engaged in scientific and technological activities should be encouraged to bid for the national and provincial scientific projects in order to get more expenditures. The creativity in those institutes should be developed, the majority of which are the unity of clinical practices, teaching and scientific research. They have a strong ability to do scientific research. The management of the key subject's scientific research and bid of the achievements in health and medical institutes of Shanxi should be intensified and taken care of. The importance of middle-and-young-aged academic leaders should be known as well. Talents should be cultivated and provided good environment. Then scientific achievements should be turned into productive force as soon as possible.
