Runmuling Granule Treatment Clinical Study Of Dry Eye

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of Runmuling Granules for dry eye.Methods:Commissioned by the Jiangsu Provincial hospital of TCM, all 60 Cases in line with the dry eye diagnostic criteria were collected from the out-patient departments of Ophthalmology department of Sichuan Provincial hospital of TCM from July 2009 to March 2010 with the following requirements:18-70 years old; All patients were randomly divided into two groups,namely, Runmuling Granules group as treatment group and Tears Naturaleâ…¡Eye Drops (Dextran and Hypromellose Eye Drops)group as control group. Compare the difference of each group before and after treatment in terms of corneal staining, tear film break-up time, tear flow, corneal topographic map as well as the individual subjective symptoms. Data were analyzed to compare the efficacy.Results:1. Objective examination:Before and after treatment,the treatment group has statistical significance in terms of cornea fluorescent pigmentation, break-up time of tears, Schirmer I test, corneal topographic map (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group is better statistically in improving break-up time of tears, schirmer I test(P< 0.05), is no better statistically in improving cornea fluorescent pigmentation,corneal topographic map(P>0.05).2. Subjective symptoms:Before and after treatment, the treatment group has statistical significance in terms of symptom scores(P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group is better statistically in improving dry sensation, conjunctival hyperemia, visual fatigue, foreign body sensation(P<0.05), is no better statistically in improving photophobia(P>0.05). 3. General effect:As is shown through the statistics, this observation reveals a 80% curative effect with the treatment group VS 56.7% for the control group, which has significance according to statistics between two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:Runmuling Granules is effective for dry eye and is worthy of further research and generalizztion to the clinical application.
