| Object:To observe the therapeutic effect of Shutianning Granule on migraineurs' Quality of Life (QOL) and to explore the mechanism, aiming at choosing a better therapeutic method and the proper clinical efficacy assessment for Migraine. Methods:60 migraineurs without aura were divided into two groups at random.30 patients in treatment group were treated with both Shutianing Granule and Sibelium capsule while 30 patients in control group were treated with only Sibelium capsule for a treatment course of 8 weeks. The headache index and QOL were evaluated before and after the treating course and the results of the two groups were compared with each other. Results:The treatment group had a total effective rate of 93.33%, compared with 86.67% in the control group. Very significant difference was shown statistically(P<0.01). Significantly higher (p<0.01) QOL was found on all eight SF-36 dimensions for patients in treatment group than before, while in control group only on role physical dimension, bodily pain dimension, general health dimension and vitality dimension(p<0.01). The improvement of QOL in the treatment group were much more than the control group (p<0.05) except the physical function dimension (p>0.05). The concomitant symptoms and physical signs were all improved(P<0.01)in the treatment group and none of these improvements were found except aspects of dizziness(P<0.01)in the control group. Conclusion:Shutianning Granule could evidently improve migraineurs'QOL. The mechanism may be related to the alleviation of the headache and the simultaneous phenomenon.
