Objective: The evaluation and management of traumatic knee dislocations remain variable and controversial. The purpose of this study was to describe our methods of surgical treatment of traumatic keen dislocations and to report the clinical result. Methods: 25 consecutive patients who presented with a traumatic dislocated knee were followed up, 12 involved in arthroscopic surgery and 13 underwent open operations. The Lysholm score were calculated respectively in the 25 cases. According to the standard (91-99 was recognized as excellent, 75-90 as good, 50-74 as fair and less than 50 as poor), excellent and good rate was calculated. A preliminary comparison of the therapitic effects of them would be performed. Results: 25 cases were followed up for 6 months to 84 months. Preoperative preparation time was 0-16 days. At the last follow-up, 12 cases were classified as excellent, 7 as good, 3 as fair and 3 as poor. The mean Lysholm score of the open operation was 81.4±14.5 (58-100), the mean Lysholm score of arthroscopic surgery was 90.2±10.4 (80-98) (P<0.05).Conclusion: Surgical treatment of anatomical repair and/or replacement is available to knee function recovery. The arthroscopy was better, compared with the therapeutic effects of arthroscopy and open operation.
