ObjectiveTo investigate the quality of sleep of cancer inpatients and relative psychological factors, and to study cancer inpatients'sleep nursing model, aimed at improving cancer inpatients'quality of sleep and quality of life, exploring sleep nursing model which is suitable for cancer patients in our country.MethodsChoosing 100 cancer inpatients as study objects. Applying Athens Insomnia Scale(AIS) to evaluate inpatients'quality of sleep; Abbreviated Version of Dysfunctional Beliefs and Attitudes about Sleep scale (DBAS-16) to investigate inpatients'subjective sense and dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes before sleep; applying Symptom Checklist(SCL-90), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ), Social Support Qustio-nnaire(SSRS), Quality of Life Index(QL-Index) to survey relative factors which affect inpatients'quality of sleep, and to analyze their relationships; on the foundation of evaluating results, randomly choosing 20 patients with insomnia from the objects as study group, choosing 20 qualified patients with insomnia as control group. Patients in study group not only received routine nursing, but also received sleep hygiene education, dysfunctional cognitive modification, emotional regulation and behavioral training, while the control group only received routine nursing. At last to compare patients'quality of sleep, cognitive attitudes about sleep, and mental health between the two groups.ResultsThe incidence of insomnia in cancer patients was 46%, there were significant differences between sex and different earning satisfaction; the male patients'quality of sleep was better than the female patients'(t=2.414,P<0.05), the quality of sleep of patients who were more satisfactory with earning was better(t=6.250, P<0.01); there was significantly positive correlation between insomnia scores and dysfunctional cognitive attitudes about sleep, mental state (r=0.302~0.835,P<0.01); there was significantly positive correlation between insomnia scores and neuroticisim, psychoticism(r=0.226~0.566,P<0.01); association between insomnia and coping style was not observed(r=-0.179~0.141,P>0.05); there was significantly negative correlation between insomnia scores and objective support, subjective support, the utilization of social support(r=-0.268~-0.395,P<0.01),between insomnia scores and patients' quality of life (r=-0.608, P<0.01).After two periods of psychological intervene-tion,there were 11 cases who had no insomnia symptoms in the study group and 3 cases in the control group, differences were observed (P<0.05); compared with control group,patients'dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes altered and mental state improved in the study group, significant differences were observed (P<0 .01).Conclusions1. The quality of sleep of cancer inpatients is poor and insomnia incidence is high; the male patients'quality of sleep is better than the female patients'; the quality of sleep of patients who are more satisfactory with earning is better.2. An obvious correlation is observed between cancer patients'quality of sleep and dysfunctional cognitive attitudes about sleep, patients with insomnia have more mistake cognitive attitudes; an obvious correlation is observed between cancer patients'quality of sleep and mental state, the mental state of patients with insomnia is poor; an obvious correlation is observed between cancer patients'quality of sleep and personality, the personality of majority patients with insomnia is nerotic and emotion is instable; an obvious correlation is observed between cancer patients'quality of sleep and social support, patients'quality of sleep who have fine social support is better; patients'quality of life is influenced by insomnia significantly.3. Applying sleep nursing model which include sleep hygiene education, dysfunctional cognitive modification, emotional regulation and behavioral training could improve cancer patients'quality of sleep and quality of life, and could contribute to patients'overall rehabilitation; the mesures such as dysfunctional cognitive modification could be mastered by nurse easily and carried out conveniently, so they should be deserved spreading in clinical practice.
