Objective:To analysis the clinical significance of NIS (sodium/iodide symporter) by investigating the expression of which in tissue of papillary adenocarcinoma and metastatic lymphonodes. Methods:72 cases of paraffin slices made from Xinjiang Uygur patients, being confirmed to be papillary adenocarcinoma by clinical pathology, were collected and tested the expression of NIS in tissue of carcinoma, beside the carcinoma and metastatic lymphonodes by way of immunohistochemistry, to learn the distribution and the correlationships with pathologic parameters. Results:1) The positive expression rate of NIS in tissue of carcinoma, beside the carcinoma and metastatic lymphonodes were 80.55%,30.55% and 56.94% respectively; 2) The expression of NIS in different stage appears not stastically different when the positive rate were 87.87% in stage I,Ⅱand 74.35% in stageⅢ,Ⅳ; 3) There was significant difference (P<0.05) between lymphonode metastatic or not, in which the NIS expressed 68.96% and 42.85% respectively; 4) The positive expression rate in tumor size≤2.0cm and>2.0cm were 93.02% and 62.06% respectively, suggested that the difference was meaningful. Conclusion:The expression of NIS in papillary adenocarcinoma in Xinjiang Uygur patients deceases with the growth of disease stage and diameter of the tumor, apparently increases in patients with lymphonodes metastases.
