Cervical spondylosis is common and frequently-occurring in clinical, Especially the nerve root type is the highest rate in alltypes of the cervical spondylosis. It brings great suffering to patients and it is harmful to human's health. For now.western medicine on the nerve root type of cervical spondylosis are treated with oral medicine, closure, traction, surgical methods and so on. It can ease symptoms and reduce the suffering of the patients, and its efficacy is recognized. Acupuncture is one of the "green therapies", and there are many effective methods to treat this kind of disease, for instance, general acupuncture, warm needle, electro acupuncture, cupping method, point application method, wrist-ankle acupuncture, abdominal acupuncture, balance acupuncture, acupoint embedding, point injection method. Among these therapies, there are little research on balance acupuncture.Objective:To observe the clinical curative effect of treating Cervical Spondylosis of nerve root type with balance acupuncture, and discussing its advantages, provising a simple method of treating Cervical Spondylosis of nerve root type with acupuncture and moxibustion.Method:According to diagnostic codes and staging standards, we shall select the patients consistent with standards in hospital room of The First Hospital affiliated Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in the periods of March,2009 to March,2010. In accordance with the principle of randomized controlled, we divide the patients into two groups:therapeutic group in that there are 30 patients and control group in that there are 30 patients. The therapeutic group use balance acupuncuture therapy, and it choose neck pain points, shoulder pain points, withdrawing the needles after arrival of qi. The control group use the traditional acupuncuture therapy, and it select the pain of the cervical Jiaji (bilateral), Dazhui and Tianzhu points,30 minutes keeping every time after arrival of qi. Both of the two groups are treated one time per week, nine times as a course, eighteen times as a total of two course. Comprehensive assessment that includes symptoms and functional scores and comprehensive assessment of pain are conducted before treatment, after the end of the one and the two courses. Using SPSS17.0 of statistical software for statistical analysis observe the situations of the patients.Results:1. After the end of the two courses, the result point out the therapeutic group is correspond to the control group in total effect (P>0.05).2. After the end of the one courses, comparison of pain scores in both groups (P<0.05). The result shows that analgesic effect in the therapeutic group is better than that in the control group.3. After the end of the two courses, comparison of pain scores in both groups (P>0.05). The result prompt that the therapeutic group is correspond to the control group in analgesic effect.4. Comparison of the symptoms and functional scores after the end of the one and two courses (P>0.05). The result shows that both of the therapeutic group and the control group can improve symptoms and function of the patients.Conclusion:Balance acupuncuture therapy and traditional acupuncture therapy can imprve the symptoms and signs of the patiens who suffer cervical spondylosis of nerve root type. Both of the two treatment methods have effect in improving pain symptoms of the patients. But patients who accept the therapy of balance acupuncture whose pain started to ease in time than the traditional acupuncture. And this method selected one or two point, it is easier than the traditional acupuncture therapy, so the patients suffer little and can accept this kind of therapy easily. It is worth to generalize and apply as clinical treatment method.
