Objective To know the development and existing circumstances of training and assessment system for Chinese medicine practitioners in Taiwan and the mainland; Comparative analysis of different modes of training Chinese medicine practitioners in Taiwan and the mainland, find the advantages and disadvantages of them; look forward to the future of Chinese medicine both in Taiwan and the mainland; Based on research results, suggestions will be proposed as reference for related departments and staff to carry on and develop Chinese medicine.Methods Under the frame of history research methodologies, literature review, document analysis, comparative research are adopted as data collection and pooling methods, in comparable categories, compared them side by side to explore the mainland and Taiwan Chinese medicine similarities and differences between training and assessment system.Results1. Taiwan and the mainland Chinese medicine practitioner training system has similarities and differences, mainly in the curriculum, teaching reform, teaching materials, teacher and expenses, degree awarded, practice base and so on.2. Mainland Chinese medicine training has two modes, apprentice education and college education. The two modes have differences in the source of students, teaching content, methods and effect of the education, we should combine with the two models.3. Taiwan and the mainland Chinese medicine assessment system have similarities and differences, mainly in legal basis, entry requirements, test methods, subjects, continue educations, and so on.Conclusions Taiwan and the mainland Chinese medicine have the same source, but the long-term closure makes the training and assessment system for Chinese medicine practitioners have many differences. Training and assessment system for Chinese medicine practitioners in Taiwan have its own unique background and historical significance. With the pharmaceutical industry to speed up and Chinese medicine cultural exchanges frequently cross-strait, it is necessary to know the training and assessment system for Chinese medicine practitioners both in Taiwan and the mainland.
