[Objective] Observe the curative effect of intradermal needle on the Pain of cervical spondylosis, in order to explore a sustained, effective, safe and simple treatment.[Methods] This is a simple randomized controlled trial. Recruited 60 volunteers with the pain of cervical spondylosis from acupuncture department of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Hainan People's Hospital,1:1 randomized into two groups,30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with acupuncture and intradermal needle, while the control group was treated with acupuncture alone. Method:(1)acupuncture treatment: taking positive cervical bilateral Jiaji plane (upper and lower two pairs), Jianzhongshu (SI15), Dazhui(DU14) and Zhongzhu(SJ3), manipulated the needles untill the needle sense comed, and then retained the needles for 20 minites. (2) Intradermal needle treatment:take bilateral Jiaji points (above) and Dazhui (DU14), or bilateral Jiaji points (below) and Jianzhongshu (SI15), two alternating rows of intradermal needle treatment, and retained for 2 days each time. The treatment was totally 10 times for one course and must be completed within four weeks. There were at least two days between every two treatment. The curative effect was evaluated by the Northwick Park neckpain scale (NPQ) and Mcgill scale before the course, after the fifth treatment, at the end of the course, one month after the course, three months after the course. Side effect and adverse reaction were ready to write down at any time during the research. Using statistical software SPSS16.0 on statistical analysis of data collected.[Results] (1) Before treatment, there was no statistical discrepancy between the two group in gender, age, disease duration, education level, past treatment history, Western diagnosis, NPQ and McGill score before the treatment(P>0.05).(2) After repeated measure by Mult-anova, both the NPQ and the Mcgill Scale scores declined significantly during the course and the follow-up in both two groups (P<0.01), which had statistical difference and meaned both treatment were effective to the pain of cervical spondylosis. (3) In contrast with the treatment group and the control group at different time points, it seemed there were no significant differences (P>0.05). However, according to the NPQ score after one month of the treatment, there was statistical difference in the treatment group compare to the control group (P<0.05), which was the same as the Mcgill scale at the end of the course. (4) No side effect and serious adverse reaction happened in the research.[Conclusion] Both acupuncture plus intradermal needle and acupuncture alone have precise effect on treating the pain of cervical spondylosis. Acupuncture plus intradermal needle may have better curative effect and the long-term sustained.
