Primary dysmenorrhea, as a common and frequently-occuring diseases in Gynecology, is a common cause of interfering with women's work and the quality of life. It mainly refers to a paroxysmal and spastic pain happening in lower abdomen befor, after or during menstruation without any organic change in reproductive organs. It can be accompanied by cold sweat, coldness in limbs, nausea and vomiting,a feeling of distending and bearing-down in anus or other discomforts. In serious cases, patient has to stay in bed, which disturbs one's work and study. Catgut embedment therapy has been proved to be effective in treating Primary dysmenorrhea. It is so convenient and simple that it is accepted by patient easily. However, because of a lack of standard study on acupoints about catgut embedment therapy, this research is designed for study on the rule of acupoint working machanismPurpose:To explore the clinical effect and probably therapeutic mechanism of treating Primary dysmenorrhea with catgut embedment in ShiQiZhui acupo-int, testing and verifing the effect of ShiQiZhui on Primary dysmenorrhea, so as to provide objective evidence for better acupoint choice and a way to improve effect. Methods:Sixty patients with Primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into a treatment group of 30 patients, treated with catgut embedment in acupoint ShiQiZhui, and a control group of 30 patients, treated with catgut embedment in multi-acupoints. Observed two groups'clinical effect and assessed their dysmenorrhea symptom scores. Established a database for statistical analysis by SPSS13.0.Results:After thr first course of treatment, the dysmenorrhea symptom scores of the two groups reduced obviously (P<0.01),compared with that of treatment before;the difference between the two groups has statistic sign-ificance (P<0.05).After the third course, the dysmenorrhea symptom scores of two groups reduced obviously(P<0.01), compared with that of treatment before; there was no statistic significant difference between the two groups (p>0.05).Three months after treatment, compared the symptom scores with that of the third course, there was no statistic significant difference in control group (P>0.05), and there was statistic significant difference in treatment group (P<0.01). The total effctive rate of treatment group is 80%, while that of control group is 96.7%. There is statistic significant difference between two groups (P<0.05)Conclusion:Catgut embedment in acupoint ShiQiZhui has exact therapeutic effect on Primary dysmenorrhea. It improves dysmenorrhea symptoms obviousely and rapidly. For short-term effect, it has the same effect as catgut embedment on multi-acupoints. But its long-term effect is worse than that of multi-acupoints group. Threrefore, ShiQiZhui can be taken as the first choice for improving the symptoms of Primary dysmenorrhea because of its better pain relief. Due to the long-term effect worse than multi-acupoints group,it can be added one or two acupoints through syndrome differentiation, so as to have a more convenient and simple way to treat Primary dysmenorrhea.
