| Objective:To investigate the clinic effect of the Du Ring, a new device for circumcision, with phimosis and redundant prepuce.Methods:647 patients with phimosis and redundant prepuce were studied, containing 586 cases were operated by the Du Ring and 61 cases were operated by the typical procedure of circumcision respectively. The local pain, hematoma, edema, shape of the prepuce and treatment satisfaction scale were observed for six months. The results were analyzed with chi-square text. Results:All the patients were cured. The (A, B, C) group time for complete wound healing after circumcision was 15~19 days. The satisfaction rate was 99.8% (584/586). The comparisons between A, B, and C group to D group show that:the operative procedure was relatively quick, painless, and demonstrated high satisfaction and acceptability with a relatively low complication rate (p<0.05). Complications included infection in 0.8%(5/586), bleeding in 1.53%(9/586) patients, respectively. In the A group, the comparisions with B revealed the time for complete wound healing was relatively quick, painless, low complication rate (p<0.05). The comparisons between C and B revealed no significant differences, but the penile edema after circumcision was significantly higher (p<0.05).Conclusion:Male circumcision using the Du Ring in a standardized surgical protocol was feasible and effective. The procedure was relatively quick, painless, and demonstrated high satisfaction and acceptability with a relatively low complication rate. Circumcision with the Du Ring is a new convenient and effective alternative in treating phimosis and redundant prepuce. |
