| Objective:To discuss the main risk factors of hypertension among one University staff in Hunan,evaluate the effect of health education,and provide scientific suggestions for prevention and control of hypertension.Methods:staff of one University,Hunan were selected(male 28 years or older,female 23 years or older).Take prevention measures,such as physical examination and health education to control hypertension.Then collect examination reports and questionnaires to analyze the risk factor and the effect of health education.Chi-square test,logistic regression model were used for univariate and multivariate analysis to estimate odds ratios ((?)) and the 95%confidence interval(95%CI).Results:The results of univariate analysis showed that sex(χ~2=15.87 OR=1.693 P=0.000),age(χ~2=19.59 P=0.000),family history(χ~2=64.68 OR=3.84 P=0.000),hyperlipemia(χ~2=32.67 OR=2.209 P=0.000), bibulosity(χ~2=27.47 OR=2.377 P=0.000),salty food intake(χ~2=53.60 OR=2.693 P=0.000),obesity(χ~2=50.09 OR=3.122 P=0.000),diabetes (χ~2=12.30 OR=9.554 P=0.000),negative emotion mood(χ~2=46.78 OR=4.139 P=0.000),and physical exercises(χ~2=61.61 OR=0.322 P=0.000) were associated with hypertension.Smoking was not.The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male(OR=1.862 95%CI 1.343～2.575),oldage group(OR=1.052 95%CI 1.043～1.065), family history(OR=1.864 95%CI 1.400～2.487),obesity(OR=1.211 95%CI 1.151～1.271),blood lipid(OR=1.271 95%CI 1.090～1.494), and diabetes(OR=1.615 95%CI 1.490～1.750) were main risk factors of hypertension.The analysis of health education indicates:the awareness rate of hypertension knowledge is elevated remarkably from 21.02%to 75.07%; while the change of behavior and life style is not that evident(except physical exercise)Conclusion:male,old age,family history,obesity,hyperlipemia and diabetes may be the risk factors of hypertension among staff of the University,Hunan.Health education can increase the knowledge of hypertension.
