Evaluation On Clinical Efficacy Of Treating Children Pneumonia With Combined Internal-External Therapy Of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of combined internal—external therapy of TCM on children pneumonia.Method: 122 cases were documented from outpatient treatment on pneumonia children who suffered from breeze heat-induced lung shutdown. These patients responded by a holistic body improvement on their clinical symptoms after treated with western medicine, oral administration of Xiaoerqingfeiyin Syrup and Antitussive power plus, external application of Fuxiong power on the thoracic region. Results: The overall cure rates were 95.90% and 96.72% respectively. The clinical efficacy of treatment on disease and syndrome, improvement of TCM syndrome and physical signs of lung and days of being in hospital between the two groups were observed after treatment.Results: We concluded that combined internal—external therapy demonstrated remarkable therapeutic effects on children pneumonia. The average days of physical signs of lung existing were 5.90±1.24,and the days of being in hospital were 7.36±1.58.Conclusion: It was showed that the combined internal-external TCM treatment,which could significantly enhance the clinical efficacy,is an effective therapy for pneumonia children who suffered from breeze heat-induced lung shutdown. The physical signs of lung and days of being in hospital were reduced obviously.
