Objective: To compare curative effect of needling in different intervening time for the treatment of PD, different intervening time (five days prior to menstrual flow or with the onset of pain) and the same prescription of Shiqizhui (EX-B7), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Ciliao (BL 32) and Diji (SP 8) were selected for the needling treatment. To offer objective clinical basis for choosing the intervening time of needling for the treatment of PD, at last we expect to define the best intervening time for the treatment of PD. Method: Under the same prescription and the same manipulation, 100 patients with PD were divided into 5 groups and 3 groups of them were selected. Among the 60 cases, there were 20 in group needling 5 days prior to menstrual flow, 20 in group needling with the onset of pain and 20 in control group without acupuncture treatment. During 3 months' observation period, we observed the changes of abdominal pain and total of CMSS vaule before and during the 3 months needling treatment. We compared the differences among the 3 groups after each menstruation period. Result: After the treatment, CMSS value of observation group have significant differences (P<0.05); There are significant differences between observation group and control group (P< 0.05); There is no significant difference between the two observation groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: We come to a conclusion that both needling 5 days prior to menstrual flow and needling with the onset of pain are effective for the treatment of PD; different intervening time of needling has no significant difference for the treatment of PD. But selecting 5 days prior to menstrual flow is better than the onset of pain with a view to the trend of curative effect. It shows that needling 5 days prior to menstrual flow has more advantages than needling with the onset of pain for the treatment of PD.
