Self-care Agency Of The Primary Hypertension In Shenyang And Analysis Of Related Factors

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to explore the present situation of self-care agency of the hypertension in Shenyang and to its related factors.Meanwhile,this study was to enhance the hypertensive patients' self-care agency to provide day-to-day basis,in order to better control blood pressure,delay the occurrence of complications and improve quality of life of patients.MethodsThe three instruments used to measure the study's variables included a demographic questionnaire,the SSRS(Social Support Rate scale),the ESCA(Exercise of Self-Care Agency Scale).The 213 hypertension patients were selected out by convenient sampling method from First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University for medical examinations who had diagnosed primary hypertension in January 2008 to October.Data were analyzed using by SPSS11.5.Results1.The scores for the ESCA Scale range from 94 to 162,the mean score of the self-care agency of the hypertension patients is 138.31±11.42,96.2%subjects perceived a high rating level and 3.8%subjects perceived a medium rating level.2.Statistically significant relations were found between the following condition factors and self-care agency of hypertension patients:occupation,education level,place of residence,personal monthly income,obtaining health education,social support,the severity of the disease,medical insurance(p＜0.05);There were no significant relations with gender,age,living way,sick time(p＞0.05).The result of multiple regression showed that the main factors arranged from high to low including the severity of the disease,medical insurance,social support,obtaining health education and education level. ConclusionsIn this study,prompted institutional care at all levels of staff should be based on hypertension patients given the specific circumstances of individual,targeted health education.Expect for hypertensive patients to provide the necessary self-care knowledge and skills,we must also pay special attention to improve their level of social support,change the wrong treatment of the concept of control of blood pressure to alleviate the symptoms and universal medical insurance which are improve self-care ability in patients with hypertension an important way.The result of this study for the nursing staff to take effective intervention measures to improve the essential hypertension patient self-care agency to provide an important basis.
