Objective:Periodontitis is a kind of local inflammation in periodontal tissues whose pathological lesion concentrates upon active phase.Periodontitis can affect systemic health by some ways. The worse the periodontal tissues are,the more obvious the influence may be! C-reactive protein(CRP),serum amyloid A protein (SAA) are two sensitive acute phase reactive proteins and their content increases signifiantly with inflammation.CRP and SAA can play an important role in the development and progression of some systemic diseases. The effect mechanism between periodontal diseases and systemic diseases is still not clear. But it was tested that CRP and SAA may play some roles in the relationship between periodontal diseases and systemic diseases. This experiment aims to investigate the correlation between the inflammation of periodontal tissue condition and CRP,SAA;to provide more aided reference indexes of evaluating the severe extent of periodontitis and judging efficacy and prognosis;to provide new reference to investigate the relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases by studying the level change of CRP and SAA in blood serum and gingival crevicular fluid in chronic periodontitis patient between prior treatment and post-treatment.Methods:60 subjects were selected, the people who had systemic disease or stomatitis such as pulpitis and periapical periodontitis were excluded. The persons with chronic periodontitis and the persons without periodontal diseases were 30 respectively. All subjects had not received periodontal therapy or taking antibiotics in 3 months. All periodontitis patients were divided into 3 groups according to the index AL(AL≤3mm,3mm<AL≤5mm,AL>5mm).There were 10 persons in each group respectively.CRP and SAA in fasting blood serum and gingival crevicular fluid of all subjects were detected by immune photoextinction. Then CRP and SAA in fasting blood serum and gingival crevicular fluid of periodontitis patients were detected again after a month of basic therapy. To analyse them with SPSS11.5 statistics software. Rank sum test was used to test all the differences. Results:The levels of CRP,SAA before treatment in blood serum and gingival crevicular fluid of periodontitis patients were higher than health adult, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05).Compared to pre-treatment,the levels of CRP, SAA after one month treatment in blood serum and gingival crevicular fluid were lower, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05).Compared to healthy people, the levels of CRP,SAA after treatment in blood serum and gingival crevicular fluid was still higher, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05).The levels of CRP and SAA in three different level groups were different, the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05).The levels of CRP and SAA in blood serum were higher than those in gingival crevicular fluid in the same patient. Conclusion With the aggravation of periodontitis, the levels of CRP and SAA in blood serum and gingival crevicular fluid increased accordingly.Periodontitis basic treatment can decrease the level of CRP and SAA.CRP and SAA.may play important roles in the relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases and are worth further studying.
