| PARTâ… the effect of the uric acid on cognition in Parkinson's diseaseObjective:To investigate the effect of the uric acid on cognitive in Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods:104 PD patients and 35 ET patients followed as outpatients in the neurology department consented to participate in the study between September 2007 to March 2009. And then we selected 70 cases whose clinical feature were tremor. The control group was 70 healthy people who made medical examination in our hospital at the same time. And 104 PD patients were classified into two groups: the patients with cognitive impairment and the patients without cognitive impairment. Then to compared with the serum uric acid level between the two groups. And to analyzed the uric acid level among the PD with tremor, the ET and the control group.Results:1. The serum uric acid level in the PD with tremor group(270.90±58.63μmol/l) was lower than that in the ET(304.43±59.12μmol/l) and the control group(325.36±38.02μmol/l), and there was marked statistical significance(P<0.01). There was no significant difference about serum uric acid level between the ET group and the control group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference about creatinine clearance rate (Ccr) among the three groups(P>0.05).2. The serum uric acid level in the group with cognitive impairment(249.11±58.89μmol/l) was lower than that without cognitive impairment(323.36±52.33μmol/l),and the difference was significant(P<0.001). There was no significant difference about creatinine clearance rate between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion:1.The serum uric acid level was decreased in the PD patients. The serum uric acid level may be helpful for the differential diagnosis between PD and ET.2. The low uric acid level was compared to the cognitive function in PD patients.PARTâ…¡Study on uric acid and the related factors associates with cognition in the patients with Parkinson's diseaseObjective :To explore the relation of the cognition and uric acid in Parkinson's disease and analyze the related factors of the cognition.Methods:104 PD patients followed as outpatients in the neurology department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University consented to participate in the study between September 2007 to March 2009. Every patient was submitted to the cognitive assessment and depression function assessment and collect their serum uric acid samples. Then to analyze the related factors of the cognitive function and the relationship between the serum uric acid and the cognitive function domain with multiple linear regression.Results:1.In PD patients, the cognitive scores were positive correlated with the education(R2 =0.604,P<0.01) and the serum uric acid level(R2 =0.713,P<0.01),and were negative correlated with depression level(R2 =0.654,P<0.01),age(R2 =0.694,P<0.01) and H-Y stages(R2 =0.376,P<0.01),but were not correlated with gender, disease duration, smoking and Body Mass Index(BMI).2.In PD patients, the serum uric acid level was positive correlation with memory(R2 =0.292,P<0.01)and language fluency(R2 =0.236,P<0.01).Conclusion:1.The change of the cognitive function was impacted by the education, serum uric acid level, age, H-Y stage and depression level.2.Raising the serum uric acid level may be helpful for cognitive function especially for memory and language fluency. |
