The Effects of YiJinjing on Balance of Healthy Older AdultsAs its name,YiJinjing means that special method exercise can make people stronger and more powerful.It has been very long history and popular in China.Aging people will be weak in balance ability.Some assessments will help us to understand the fading progress.Stand on one foot with eyes closed test,strengthen Romberg test and the timed "up & go" test can be used to separately value the balance ability of healthy persons in dynamic and static state.We want to find a feasible exercise adapt older people for anti-aging and fall prevention,and then to decrease the negative effect of falling down.Before the study,56 healthy older adults were valued their balance ability firstly to be sure comparability with each other.Then they were randomized to participate in YiJinjing group(40minutes per day,3 days per week for 12 weeks) or control group(normally living without intense exercise for 12 weeks).12 weeks later,3 assessments were valued again with data collection and analysis by SPSS software.The result intimated:Firstly,control group before and after experiment:the time of "up and go" was changed,p<0.05,shown the balance ability was dropped,and other results is no change,p>0.05. Secondly,YiJinjing group before and after experiment:p<0.05,shown the balance ability was increased.Thirdly,the difference value of two groups:p<0.05,shown the balance ability was increased greatly in YiJinjing group.As a traditional healthy exercise,YiJinjing can improve not only muscle strength and body flexibility,but also the ability of balance. The motion design of YiJinjing is variegated and moderateness.There is plentiful intensification of proprioceptive,visual and vestibular sense,as head-eye coordinated,support surface changed and physical focus shifted,etc.At the same time it contains the ingenious transformation in the maintenance of balance between the dynamic process of adjustment(action conditioning) and static adjustment (muscle coordination).Specially,the action is to limit limbs to keep balance with the minimal support surface.It will be strengthen the coordination of muscles.The mechanism of its effect on balance of healthy older adults will be clear with further studies.It must be an ideal and practical exercise for older adults with some troubles of balance.
