Background: Colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumor in the world. With economic growth, the life-style changing, the morbidity of colorectal cancer increases gradually. The incidence rate of colorectal carcinoma in elder is going up in recent years. Colorectal carcinoma in elder is different in clinical, pathologic features and prognosis compared with that in youth. Colorectal carcinoma in elder is paid more attention to explore its clinical and pathologic features and early diagnosis.Objective: By analysising and discussing clinical feature and metacheirisis of colorectal cancer in elder, to achieve the purpose of rising early diagnostical rate and the level of metacheirisis.Patients and Methods: The characteristics of colorectal cancer in the old patients were analyzed through a retrospective study of 184 cases from December, 2003 to December, 2006 in QiLu Hospital of ShanDong University.Results: In the group case, colorectal cancers in elder have many characteristics . The middle course of diseases is 6. 5 months. The symptom is not representative , and 54. 35% of the cases have complications . 84. 20% of them have surgical operation treatments, and so on. Conclusion: Because of occult onset, elaborative examination is essential for suspicious cases to elevate the early diagnostic rate of colorectal cancer in the elder. Early surgical intervention and adjuvant treatment after surgery is recommended to decrease the incidence of complication and mortality and to prolong their survival span of the elder patients with colorectal cancer.
