Objective: The prevalence of depression was surveyed based on community in Dalian. Through this investigation,we can get more information for disease prevention and clinical diagnosis. Also, it can provide more valuable data and information for mental health project in Dalian, meanwhile, for the construction of community mental health.Methods: All 5062 persons were sampled from the 11 areas in Dalian. The Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI 3.0) was used in the investigation. The diagnostic code was DSM-IV which was established in 1994 in America. Chi-square and logistic regression were used in the statistics.Results: (1)The lifetime rate of depression was 4.30%.The The lifetime rate of Dysthymia was 0.20%. The lifetime rate of Minor Depressive Disorder was 0.70%. The lifetime rate of Major Depressive Disorder was 3.70%(.2)Female(OR=1.353,95%.CI=1.006-1.820),divorced ( OR=1.154, 95%.CI=0.555-2.401 ) ,losing spouse ( OR=1.232, 95%.CI=0.650-2.335 ) ,the years in school ( OR=1.072, 95%.CI= 1.028-1.118),psychologic statu(sOR=2.069, 95%.CI=1.779-2.405), persons with kinds of chronic disease ( OR=1.357, 95%.CI=1.251-1.472 ) were significantly associated with depression.Conclusion: The female prevalence of depression is higher than male. Different incomes have different prevalence. So, we suggest that inhabitant in Dalian should do regular physical examination, and more health education and concerns should be given by community and patient's family.
