Objective:To investigate the prevalence of depression among residents of Tianjin and analyze the influencing factors,to provides the basis for the prevention and treatment of depression.Methods:A total of 15538 individuals aged 18 year and above were sampled by multistage Probability Proportionate during July to December in 2011.The general demographic data of elderly people(include gender,age,marriage,urban and rural,educational years.etc.),The General Health Questionnaire(GHQ-12),The Structured Clinical Interview for The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV(SCID)were used for screening for depression.All analyses were conducted using the SPSS 19.0 software package.Chi-square test was used to compare the prevalence of depression among different populations.Logistic regression was used to analyze the related factors of depression.Results:1.A total of 15538 individuals aged 18 year and above were sampled,the total of 11748 respondents participated in the survey of the general demographic data of elderly people and GHQ-12.The response rate was 75.6%.Total of 4438 people aged 18 and above were selected out to study.2.The lifetime prevalence rate of depression in Tianjin was 3.7%,and the 1-month prevalence rate was 1.1%.The lifetime and 1-month prevalence of depression were significantly higher in female(4.9%,1.5%)vs male(2.6%,0.8%),in rural(5.0%,2.0%)vs urban(3.3%,0.9%),and there were significantly different between two groups(P<0.01,P<0.05).The lifetime and 1-month prevalence of depression in 18~39 years old people were 2.6%,0.6%,in 40~54 years old were 3.9%,1.3%,in 55~ years old were 5.7%,2.1%,with the increase of age,the lifetime and 1-month prevalence of depression increase gradually,and there were significantly different between three groups(P<0.01).The lifetime and 1-month prevalence of depression were significantly higher in divorce/lose spouse(9.9%,3.3%)vs married(3.6%,1.1%),never married(1.7%,0.3%),famer(7.5%,2.8%)vs retired(4.8%,1.3%),jobless or lose of job(3.7%,1.8%),housewife(3.4%,1.2%),having a work(2.8%,0.7%),and there were significantly different between two groups(P<0.01).The lifetime and 1-month prevalence of depression in 13+ years education people were 2.6%,0.5%,in 10~12 years education people were 2.9%,0.8%,in 7~9 years education people were 3.6%,1.1%,in 0~6 years education people were 7.1%,2.8%,with the decrease of education years,the lifetime and 1-month prevalence of depression increase gradually,and there were significantly different between three groups(P<0.01).3.Logistic regression analysis showed protective factors to depression were that male(OR=0.524,95%CI : 0.372~0.738),never married(OR=0.278,95%CI :0.124~0.619),married(OR=0.439,95%CI : 0.274~0.702),housewife(OR=0.476,95%CI:0.229~0.990),poor living conditions(OR=1.81,95%CI:1.068~3.065)is risk factor for depression.Conclusions:1.The prevalence of depression is high in Tianjin,which is consistent with the reported data in recent years,and it shows that the incidence of depression is gradually increasing.2.Community elderly,rural,female were high-risk groups of depression disorders,this group of people should be concerned.3.Community divorce/lose spouse,farmer,the decrease of education years,were high-risk groups of depression disorders,this group of people should be concerned.4.Female,divorce/lose spouse,poor living conditions are risk factors for depression.interventions should be focus on high risk residents for depression,moreover,education of mental health and social support for psychological stress may helpful for achieving recovery and preventing recurrence of depression.
