Rosa cymosa belongs to Rosaceae family,it is widely distributed in Jiang xi,Jiang su, Zhe jiang,An hui,He nan,Si chuan,Gui zhou,Fu jian,Guang dong,Guang xi,Tai wan provinces in China.The extracts from Rosa cymosa has the function of blood coagulation and can restrain staphylococcus aureus,βstreptococcus,bacillus termo and bacillus coli.In fact,its dried roots and leaves are effective folk medicine to therapy the rheumatism,diarrhoea,empyrosis and traumatic haemorrhage in China.According to the literatures,there is little report about the constituents in Rosa cymosa. In order to find the active ingredients,the chemical constituents of the 95%ethanol extract of Rosa cymosa Tratt.were investigated.Twenty-one compounds were isolated by column chromatographic methods using silica gel,Diaion HP-20,ODS,HPLC,Sephadex LH-20 and recrystallization from the acetoacetate layer.On the basis of chemical evidence and spectral analysis,the structures of eighteen compounds were elucidated asβ-sitosterol(1), 2α-hydroxyursolic acid(2),daucosterol(3),euscaphic acid(4),2β,3β,19α-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid(5),kaji-ichigoside F1(6),pinfaenoic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(7),arjunic acid(8),23-hydroxytormentic acid(9),arjunetin(10), nigaichigoside F1(11),astraglin(12),4,2'-bis-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,3'-dihydroxy-6, 7-combine-dihydropyran-3,4-dihydrobenzopyrone(13),potengriffioside A(14),sericoside (15),2α,3α,19α,23-tetrahydroxyursa-12-en-28-Oic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosylester(16), isopinfaenoic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosylester(17),rosamultin(18).Among them,compound 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,15,16,17 and 18 were isolated from this plant for the first time.Compound 5 was first isolated from genus Rosa,and Compound 13 is a new compound.The plants belonging to the genus Rosa are described containing triterpenoids and flavonoids which represent important bioactive compounds,in which pentacyclic triterpenoids are typical.Definite conclusions about bioactive components in Rosa cymosa must be based on further pharmacological experiments.
