Juglans mandshurica belongs to the Juglandaceae family, Juglans genus. It is widely distributed in east and north region of China. The roots, barks and peel of the plant were used for treatment of cancer and desinsection and as an anodyne to relieve aches. In order to make further use of the Chinese herbal resources and find active compounds, we have undertaken a systematic investigation on the chemical constituents of the green peel of Juglans mandshurica.Nine compounds were isolated from the ethanolic extracts of the green peel of Juglans mandshurica and all of them were identified by using various modern spectrometric approaches, including 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 1H-1HCOSY, HMQC, HMBC, NOESY, EI-MS, etc., two of which were new compounds. The two new compounds: a diphenylether-type diarylheptanoids named juglandoid(JM-02) and a tetralone named juglanside(JM-05). Others were:β-sitosterol(JM-01),juglone(JM-03),regilone(JM-04),3,5-dimethoxy-4-hyroxy-benzoicacid(JM-06), vanillic acid (JM-07),kaempferol(JM-08), quercetin(JM-09).
