Objective The aim of the study was to verify clinical observation on the therapeutic effect of Shangke Jiegu Pian on promoting fracture healing, and confer the mechanism of them through comparison study of analgesia, detumescence and callus growth of the fracture part.Methods Fifty-three patients with closed and fresh fracture of distal radius were selected from BaoAn TCM Hospital of ShenZhen from July 2007 to February 2008. After manual reduction and external fixation with small splints or plaster, The patients were randomly divided into two groups , one for treatment group which was treated by Shangke Jiegu Pian, the other for control group which was treated by Dieda Qili Pian. The treatment periods of these two group were both 6 weeks. The analgesia, detumescence and callus growth of the fracture part would be observed after treating.Results 1. There were significant differences between two groups on analgesia, detumescence time of the fracture part, and the treatment group had a better effect than control group;2. The treatment group got better effort on callus growth of the fracture part from the 4th week;3. Two groups were effective in clinical effect of the fracture part both, however the treatment group was better than control group;4. There were no differences in blood, urine and stool routines, heart, liver and kidney functions before or after the treatment of Shangke Jiegu Pian, and allergic and adverse reaction did not occur during treatment.Conclusion 1. Huo-Xue-Hua-Yu-therapy is the construction principia of the Shangke Jiegu Pian;2. Shangke Jiegu Pian can promote analgesia, detumescence and fracture healing;3. Shangke Jiegu Pian was better than Dieda Qili Pian.
