| The incidence rate of dysphagia after stroke is about 45%. The cardinal symptoms are water choking and swallowing difficulties, which often cause pulmonary infection by mistaken inhalation. At present, there are very few reports that mainly choose Du Meridian for acupuncture treatment after stoke.Du meridian has very close relationship with the physiological functions of central nervous system and the pathological changes of encephalopathy. The Du meridian has the function of governing all YANG QI of the whole body. The acupuncture of the acupoints in the Du meridian can greatly affect the physiological function of the brain. Modern researches showed that acupuncture the acupoints of Du Meridian can relieve the damage of brain function when the cerebral ischemia happens; can promote the brain recover age of reperfusion after ischemia; can regulate the content of vasoactive substance in the brain tissue; At the same time, it can expand the cerebral vessels and improve cerebral blood flow. Acupuncturing "Renzhong", "Baihui" have positive effect on reducing the death of nerve cell .We have observed the neuroprotective effect during acupuncturing the points of Du Meridian in the different animal models of cerebral ischemia. The network control of Du Meridian has great effect on the brain function. To ensure the accuracy and credibility of this study, we choose the deglutition training of rehabilitation therapy as control group.ObjectiveOn the basis of TCM theory , and with the modern scientific researching and statistical methods, this clinic research is designed to verify the close relationship between Du Meridian and the brain, by choosing the important acupoints of Du Meridian in pate. We used electro-acupuncture treatment method. The purpose of this research is to find out a new effective treatment method, and to verify the superiority of "Tong Du Tiao Shen" in dysphagia after stroke. All these jobs might help to establish the acupuncture method of "Tong Du Tiao Shen" in treating the dysphagia after stroke.MethodsWe choose the patients swallowing hard after stroke in physiatry department and Nerve Medical Department clinic or inpatient department in both the first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Guangdong combination hospital of western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. According to strict inclusive criteria and exclusive criteria in China, we select patients for clinic study. We adoptquasi-RCTs, which is according to the patients of the clinic or hospital number of parity to determine into the treatment group or the control group. Each group has 30 patients. The patients of the treatment group, the group of "Tong Du Tiao Shen" will be acupunctured the main points on pate of Du Meridian, such as Fengfu and Yamen, using electro-acupuncture therapy. The control group will use internationally accepted methods of training swallowing to train the function of deglutition. In order to assess therapeutic effect, two groups of patients should have tests for swallowing function by videofluoroscopic swallowing study, which is call for short VFSS, and Kubota water swallowing function test, and observe the potential adverse effects after the prior and post treatment when 2 courses of treatment is finished.ResultsFirstly, as to the VFSS score in the treatment group, the score in the prior treatment group is 2.00±1.26 and 6.83±2.90 in the post treatment group. The VFSS score in the control group is 2.57±1.41 and 5.60±2.94 in the prior treatment group and post treatment group repectively (P <0.01). Secondly, as to the Taking Kubota drinking water tests score in the treatment group, the score in the prior treatment group is 3.17±0.65 and 1.20±1.16 in the post treatment group. The VFSS score in the control group is 3. 03 + 0. 61 and 1. 60 + 1. 28 in the prior treatment group and post treatment group repectively (P<0.01). Thirdly, the treatment time of treatment group was significantly shorter than that of the control group (P<0.01). Fourthly, the treatment group has no adverse effect, while the control group does.ConclusionFirstly, at to the VFSS score and the Taking Kubota drinking water tests score, the acupuncture group of "Tong Du Tiao Shen" had a better therapeutic effect on dysphagia after stroke than that in the control group, which is the swallowing training group. Secondly, the curative effect in the acupuncture group of "Tong Du Tiao Shen" is better than that in the swallowing training group. Thirdly, the acupuncture prescription of "Tong Du Tiao Shen" had can entirely regulate the organism and can profit the comprehensive rehabilitation of patients. Fourthly, the acupuncture prescription of "Tong Du Tiao Shen" might be widely used in dysphagia after stroke, because it is effective, no side effects and independent , economy, easy to select acupoints and especially it has a short course of treatment.
