ObjectiveTo detect the serum proteomic patterns by using SELDI-TOF-MS (surface enhanced laser desorption/ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry) technology in breast cancer patients, and to evaluate the significance of the proteomic patterns in the diagnosis of breast cancer. while detection of early stage breast cancer are urgently needed.Materialandmethods22 cases of the patients with breastcancer,12cases of the healthy people were tested by WCX2 proteinchip reader of ciphergen . Then all serum combined with the surface of the WCX2 proteinchip. Proteomic spectra were generated by mass spectroscopy surface-enhanced laser desorption and ionization.ResultsThere were two protein contents of the two groups are obviously different,the M/ Z values is 3939 Da and 3960 Da,Analysis of the spectra from breast cancer patients, This result yielded 77.27% sensitivity and 83.33%specificity.ConclusionSELDI-TOF-MS technology shows great potentiality for breast cancer early diagnosis and screening of tumor biomarkers ,and deserves generalization. This could be used in clinical application.
