Background: Clinical medicine specialty of 7-year-program was set up in Shanxi Medical University in 2000, and the teachers in the Department of Physiology have taught Physiology courses for 6 years. Compared with the students of clinical medicine specialty of 5-year-program, the ones of 7-year-program who are eager to quest for new knowledge have the characteristics of high comprehensive quality, active thoughts and strong understanding abilities. Then the new-style teaching which means to inspirit and raise the 7-year-program students' self-teaching ability is demanded to apply during the course of physiology teaching. The Long-Range Education is an educational style based on the Internet, which applies the multimedia technology. database technology and network technology, etc. With the Long-Range Education, students can make personality teaching-learning and interactive teaching possible. At present, there are many physiology coursewares developed by large-scale network technical service company, but the content which can not be renewed in time is not special enough. Then they are difficult to satisfy the needs of both students and teachers. The teachers in higher medicine college have the ability to master special knowledge, meantime are qualified the technique of basic computer operation. Thus a suitable network courseware can be made by them.Objective: To make the internet courseware of physiology suiting for the needs of the students of clinical medicine specialty of 7-year-program by means of the basic network tool and elementary computer knowledge,Materials and Methods1. Teaching material: Physiology textbook for the students of clinical medicine specialty of 7-year-program, which is a Nationally Planned Textbook for "Tenth Five-Year Plan" published by Fudan University Press, was chosen as the material of courseware making.2. Software and hardware environment: 10M/100M local area network was used as the development environment. WWW browser IE5.0 or Netscape 4.6 was loaded on the Web server, Windows NT and the terminal. It can be revealed on the single version IBM PC sires, Gallops -166, more than 16M on CPU and more than 1MB RAM. The supported resolution was more than 800×600* 16bit on the monitor and the revealed card; 4 times speed more on the light river, more than16bit on the sound card and sound box. The operating system was Chinese Windows 98 or Chinese Windows 95 or Netscape 4.6. SQL Server or Access database was used as the database, which was developed by ASP technology.3. Development tool: The Dreamwaver4.0 or FrontPage 2000, APS technology and VbScript, IavaScript were used as the homepage manufacture, Flash5.0 was used as the animation manufacture, Photoshop 5.0 was used as the picture processing, and Premiere5.1, Ulead Media studio, Real Producer G2 and Studio were used as the video frequency processing.Result: A internet courseware of Physiology for 7-year-program clinical medicine specialty, including 190 thousands words, 145 photographs and 34 video materials which explain the basic learning contents, were manufactured. It mainly contains seven modules as following:1).Basic theory: The main content of the courseware provides the teaching of the knowledge spots, hot character link, photographs and video materials.2).Experimental teaching: It contains 18 experiments, 6 video recording for operation, 8 simulated animations .These make the students experience personally and realize the purpose.3).Self-test: There are 1141 questions containing Noun Explanations, True or False Questions, Multiple Choice of Type A, B and X, Short Answer Questions and Essay Questions in this part. These questions are based on each chapter and cover all general knowledge of the subject.4).Physiological literature study: It contains the Chinese physiological history, the story of physiologists, physiological literary reference and Nobel medicine prize, which make the students know about the development of the science and raise their rigors scientific attitude.5).Program of instruction: In order to make the students know about the textbook better and master the teaching content, this part lists the knowledge spots and reveals the important points in red.6).Teaching field: To make the students improve their studying interests and master scientific studying method, this part contains the Physiology characteristic, supported studying methods, hundred school of thought contends and the shells from the skill sea.7).Teaching handbook: This part contains theory teaching arrangement, experimental teaching plan, teaching supplemental materials and physiological topical glossary both in Chinese and English.Conclusion: Teachers in higher medical college having the ability to master special knowledge and qualifying the technique of basic computer operation can make a suitable internet courseware by using special software.
