Objective To explore the role of Guglielmi detachable coil (GDC) covered with ZiGuiepidermal growth ointment (ZGO) in accelerating the membrane to cover the aneurysmal orifices andthe clinical significance. Methods 23 aneurysms were created by operation. Two weeks later, rabbits had angiography followed by randomization to aneurysm occlusion with GDC or GDCcovered with ZGO. Three months later, animals underwent angiography and were killed. Aneurysmswere excised, stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and examined by light microscopy. ResultsThe rate of complete aneurysm endothelialization with GDC was 83.3% (5/6), and the rate ofcomplete aneurysm endothetialization with GDC covered with ZGO was 100% (7/7). There was nodifference in the rate. The rate of aneurysm remnant in the orifice of the aneurysm with GDC was60% (3/5), and there was no one in the orifice of the aneurysm with GDC covered with ZGO. Therewas statistical significance in the difference. Neck tissue thickness was higher in aneurysms withGDC covered with ZGO than that with GDC. The difference was significant. Conclusion GDCcovered with ZGO can increase the neck tissue thickness and decrease the aneurysm remnant in theorifice of the aneurysm, which created a start for reconstitution of normal arterial wall and a decreasein aneurysm recurrence.
