ObjectiveIn the research we reviewed the modern reference and ancient literature.Based on clinical observation and animal experiment, to evaluate the clinicalefficacy, safety and action mechanism of prepared Nux Vomica treating paralyticlimbs in cerebral infarction during the period of flaccid paralysis withclinical randomized controlled research and animal experiment.Methods1. Randomly divide 69 patients with paralytic limbs in cerebral Infarctionduring the period of flaccid paralysis into two groups which the prepared NuxVomica group included 35 patients and the basic therapy group included 34patients. The first group was the treatment and the second group was the controlgroup. The control group received clinical basic therapy, The treatment grouppatients were added the prepared Nux Vomica. Evaluate the clinical efficacyby using Clinical Test Report on Criterion of Diagnosis and Therapeutic Effectof Apoplexy (1986), NIHSS and modified Rankin Scale. Evaluate the side effectwith TESS.2. All experimental Sprague Dawley rats had the right middle cerebral arteryocclusion (MCAO) by thread occlusion method, and rats were randomised intotwo groups which the prepared Nux Vomica group included 11 rats and the controlgroup included 12 rats. Evaluate the efficacy by using Zea—longa Scale, andmeasured the index of hemorheology using blood from the hearts of SpragueDawley rats.After collecting the data, record the data, analyze with SPSS 12.0 statisticsofty-ware.Results1. There is comparability of two groups of the sex, age, location of cerebral infarction, the scores of NIHSS and mRS before therapy. The curative effectin prepared Nux Vomica group was similar to the control group(P>0.05). Aftertreatment the two groups total scores of NIHSS and mRS decreased, and therewas statistic significance difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Themuscular tension recovery of patients in treatment group was sooner than thatin control group(P<0.05).2. The prepared Nux Vomica can improve the scores of Zea—longa Scale, andthere was statistic significance difference between the two groups(P<0.05).The index of hemorheology of prepared Nux Vomica group was lower than thatin control group(P<0.05).Conclusions1. The prepared Nux Vomica can improve neurological deficits and activitiesof daily living in patients with cerebral infarction during the period offlaccid paralysis. The prepared Nux Vomica can strengthen muscular tension,andshorten the period of flaccid paralysis, and it may be one of the mechanismsthat improve neurological deficits in cerebral infarction.2. The prepared Nux Vomica can improve neurological deficits of SpragueDawley rats with MCAO, and can decrease the viscosity of whole blood.
