The research of medical book publication is definitly an indispensableaspect in the studies of medical history, as the carrier of medicine, the type,the quantity, the quality of the medical book publication as well as its timeand space distribution not only directly reflect the development conditionof medicine, but can demonstrate the social reason influencing medicinedevelopment, unfortunately,at present, we have not seen the special researchabout the Guangdong medical book publication of Qing Dynasty.By widely investigating the literature to collect the data,this researchmakes the macroscopic description to the Guangdong medical book publicationof Qing Dynasty which lays a strong foundation for the following study.We preliminarily analysised condition of the book publication, firstlyinvestigated medicine book list in the "Ouan Guo Zhong Yitu Shu Lian He MuLu"(in 1991 version), "Zhong Guo Fen Sheng Yi JiKao", "Zhong Guo Yi Ji Tongkao", "GuangDongWen XianZongLu", "Zhong Guo Yi Xu Tong Shi" and so on, then, wescreened 303 kind of medical books of Qing Dynasty printed in Guangdong.secondly, took variously the local Guangzhou libraries into investigatingand consulting on-the-spot, furthermore, photographed 200 kind of versionswhich local collects, analyzed the medical book's publication of QingDynastyin Guangdong each period, we found that the quantity of known Oing Dynasty inGuangdong versions at the present is 483 kinds, 2,025 volumes.The results showed that, the publications is most active in the periodof Daoguang and the Guang Xu. It is in the Guang Xu time that the medicalbook published most whose type is most abountant, but what the medical bookpublished most quickly is in the xuantong period. The Cantonese pays greatattention to the clinical actual effect, the engraves is majority in the medicalformulary, especially about theembryo and parturient women,which takesextremely protection to the infant and young child. What the versionsreengraved most is "Yan Fang Xin Bian", next are" Da Sheng Pian/Sui ShengPian/Fu You Plan", the last are "ShengCaoYaoXingBeiYao", "Bai Hou Zhi Fa JiBiao Jue Wei", "Da Sheng Yao Zhi", "Yi Lin Gaicuo","Tai Chan Xin Fa", "YouYou Ji Cheng", "Fu Qingzhu Nan Nu Ke", "Yi Xue Zuan Yao", "ShangHan Lun Qian Zhu", "Shou Shi Bao Yuan", "Wen Bing Tiao Bian", "Yi Xue Ru Men" and so on.These versions are mainly engraved by means of Chinese traditional vultureversion printing. The Cantonese learned the modern science and technology aswell as was good at swallowing anything and everything uncritically, so thatthey quickly absorbed the western medicine knowledge, the letterpress printingand the lithography technology, which contribute to Western medicinespreading and development.During the investigation, we discovered "Quan Guo Zhong Yitu Shu LianHe Mu Lu"(in 1991 version) has a few omissions to be mended, distinguished doubtsand corrected, altogether we supplemented 13 western medicine versions, 17traditional Chinese medicine versions published in Guangdong in QingDynasty,10 collecting place in Guangzhou, and collated 180 ancient medical bookswritten by Cantonese before Qing Dynasty which not carried in"Quan Guo ZhongYitu Shu Lian He Mu Lu" and local Guangzhou but the local chronicle. Makinguse of the knowledge about edition, literature, history, language, wedistinguished and corrected Bao Xiang no' s "Yan Fang Xin Bian rand itsaugmentation and excerpt versions, Liu Xinkui' s "Jing Yan Ji Fang" and "JingYah Za Fang", Li Pei lan's "Shi Zheng Liang Fang Shi Yi" and "Shu Yi FangShiYi", Wu Xuanchong' s "Shu Yi Yue Bian",Luo Ru lan's "Shu Yi Hui Bian",Ma Er quan' s "Xiao Peng Lai Shan GuanFang Chao", Zhu lin Temple' s"XiaoPenglai Guan Fang Chao", "Da Sheng Plan" (pamphlet and series),"Da ShengPian/Sui Sheng Pian/Fu You Plan", "Zeng Guang Da Sheng Yao Zhi"(Guangxu 26year,Shun De Long Yu guang versions and the Guangdong versions,),Chen Pun Yi XueShi Shu"and ligao' s"DongYuanShiShu"Otherwise, we investigated the medical book prnting organization ofGuangdong in Qing Dynasty, refresh its distribution and the verge of action,laid stress analysis on H an Wen Tang, Guangzhoushoujingtang, Guangzhou dengyun ge, Guangzhou shi jie yuan, fo shah tian lu ge, Guangdong shah shu ju,LianYuange, Guangzhou da Wen Tang, the Guangzhou linshuge, Chaozhou Lin Wenzai lou, Guangzhouwujinglou, Guangzhou gujingge, Fu Wen Tang, Guangzhouhanmoyuan, hanbaolou, Guangzhoubijingtang, Guangzhou shijingtang, Guangzhoubaojingge, Foshantianbaolou organization and so on. And through every books'preface and postscript, We discussed the reason for engraving the medical bookin Qing Dynasty in Guangdong, then discovered the person who warm-heartedlyengraves the medical book in Qing Dynasty in Guangdong respectively is theGuangdong official, the Buddhism believers and the person fully suffereddisease or person of getting the benefits from medical book, they altruisticlyprovided relief, goodness to the people which help Guangdong medicine in QingDynasty to spread and develop.In the foundation of above investigation and study, we collated "the Medicalbook Publication of Guangdong in Qing Dynasty and Guangdong Version SavingData Sheet",took nearly one thousand photos of book version.As the initial study on medical book publication, we take more emphsis on the materials collection and reorganization. Becauseof big load ofinvestigation and reorganization and the hasty time, many questions have notenough time to make thorough careful discussion by a broader field of vision,we will wait for going on consummating from now on.
