| Objective: To evaluate the influence of Jiuzhenggujin Capsule(JZGJC, a traditional Chinese drug) to the postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMO), and find out one kind of Chinese crude drug which is estrogen surrogate without the side effects of estrogen..Methods: Ovariectomized rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: high, medium, low dose of JZGJC, negative, Nilestriol and sham.groups. After drenched, Osteocalcin(OC), serium calcium(S-Ca), serium phosphorium(S-P), bone Alkali phosphatase(BALP) and bone mineral density(Dual Energy X-Ray Bone Densitometer was used to test the density of lumber-3 and femur) were measured. The data were in the form of ((±s), and mean squares between groups were dealt with one-way ANOVA of SPSS 12.0.Result:: As compared with the sham group, in the negative groups, the density of lumbers-3 and femurs was lower obviously(P<0.05). Compared with the negative group, in the high dosage group, the density was much higher(P<0.05), in the medium and low dosage groups, there was no significant distinction(P>0.05), in the Nilestriol group, the density is higher(P<0.05). BALP-testing: the sham group is lower than the negative group, the JZGJCgroups are much lower than the negative group, while higher than the Nilestriol group with no statistical significance; there was no significant variance in these three groups(P>0.05). S-Ca and S-P: Comparing with the negative group, there was only the high dose group having the significant distinction.; S-Ca was lower while S-P was higher(p<0.05)Conclusion: . The test showed that JZGJC and Nilestriol both can prevent the losing of bone mass of the ovariectomized rats. But the effect of short-term is weaker than Nilestriol, and needs the deeper research. On the whole, JZGJC can inhibit the bone resorption, promote the bone formation then prevent the losing of bone mass. It is effective for PMO。At the same time an Obvious descent in a S- Ca in high amount of capsule , may be to make blood Ca been deeply because of its promoting the bone formation, repressing again at the same time the bone absorb the decrease bone Ca into the blood with the result.
