Research background: Malnutrition and obesity has been coming the main public problem among children in China. Whether we can find the reason and make active intervention is a primary factor which has great influence on the growth of next generation. Now, the reseach on diet behavior and health of children in china is just underway, mainly including the cross-sectional study on breakfast behavior, snack behavior, etc. But the study of realiton between diet behavior and health is rarely confirmed in our country.Objective: To provide scientific babis for improve the innutrition, obesity and prandial inbalance of children we have investigated the diet behavior and health status of junior school students in Jining. The specific objective is:1. Know the diet behavior and health status of junior school students in Jining.2. Analysis the influencing factors for the diet behavior and health status.3. Give the correlative suggestion on the basis of research results.Methods: We use layered colony random method to get samples. Jining city central area and the Wenshang County countryside are investigation areas and two junior schools of there are random selected. Finally we divide them into 4 grades according to different grade and define each class as a group. From each grade, sample one class randomly as a whole flock. Then 16 classes, about 1,500 students are extracted totally. The questionnaires are taken out at the same time. After the investigators who had accepted system training made an explanation of filling the questionnaires, the students filled in them on the spot. Totally 1510 questionnaires are issued and 1501 questionnaires are retracted. We analyse the data by SPSS13.0 software.Main Results: In city junior school, about 81.38% of students have breakfast everyday and only 52.17% in rural junior school. The difference between them is significant. About 75.46% junior school students in city and 75.07% junior school students in the rural know that having none-breakfast has ill effect on both their growth and study; the difference between them is not significant. 81.38% city junior school students and 81.45% rural junior school students are limited to eat sock by their parents; the difference between them is not significant. 11.86% junior school students in city and 4.63% junior school students in rural usually have drinks; the difference between them is significant. 68.80% city junior school students and 59.13% rural students know that often have sweet drinks has influence on body, there is significant difference between them. 3.58% city junior school students and 0.58% rural students often eat fast-food; the difference between them is significant. 69.05% city junior school students and 19.42% rural students know that fast-food contains more energy and fat but fewer vegetables; and make people more easily to get obesity, there is significant difference between them. In city 69.54% junior school students have normal nutrition, 11.10% of them is partial to thin, and 19.36% is partial to fat; while in country 70.29% junior school students have normal nutrition, the 10.14% is partial to thin and 19.42% is partial to fat. The rate of oral diseases, rheum and digestive system diseases in city junior school and country junior school are not completely same, but the difference between them is not significant.Conclusions: The research is divided into two parts, one is the diet behavior and the influence factors on them of city and rural junior school students; the other is the influence of diet behavior on the health of junior school students. Based on the above results, we draw the following conclusions: 1) Breakfast behavior and meal makeup of city junior school students are better than that of rural junior school students. 2) There is no obvious difference on having sock between city junior school students and the rural junior school students. 3) There is obvious difference on having fast-food and sweet drinks between the city and rural junior school students. The quantity of the knowledge about nutrition that the city junior school students know is more than that of rural junior school students. 4) There is obvious difference on the diet behavior of different age and sex. 5) The diet behavior of junior school students has obvious effect on their health.Suggestions: 1) We should strengthen health education, especially the diet nutrition education of mothers. 2) We should improve the diet behavior on breakfast,snack and fastfood, and reduce the intake of drinks and improve the diet structure. 3) In some appropriate areas, we can take the school-breakfast program referring to the abroad report.
