| Objective: To evaluate the bone augmentation efficacy and mechanism of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein ( rhBMP-2 ) and sodium hyaluronate ( SH ) composite injection on mandible of rabbits. To provide experimental evidence for inventing a kind of new technology of alveolar augmentation in minimally invasive manner. Methods: According to random block design, 60 rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups composed of rhBMP-2-SH group, rhBMP-2 group, SH group and blank contrast ( BC ) group. rhBMP-2-SH composite was placed beneath both sides of mandible periosteum in the rhBMP-2-SH group, so was rhBMP-2 in rhBMP-2 group and SH in SH group. In BC group, nothing was placed in operation. Rabbits were sacrificed respectively by block at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks. 99mTc-MDP bone scan was performed before sacrificed. While other exams , including HE staining, collagen I immunochemical staining , alkaline phosphatase ( ALP ) activity, bone gla protein ( BGP ) content, were performed after sacrificed. Results: (1) In rhBMP-2-SH group: â‘ Ratio of region of interest ( ROI) count was higher than that in other groups at 2 weeks ( p <0.05 ), 8 weeks, and significantly higher at 4 weeks ( p <0.01 ). â‘¡Histological observation showed newly formed bone trabeculae were found at 2... |
