Studies On The Quality Control And Standards Of Danggui Oil And Its Relative Products

Danggui is an important traditional Chinese medicinal herb. It is the root of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels and the principal constituents are volatile oil and some water-soluble ingredients. Danggui has multiple pharmacological effects. It has been used for anti-inflammation, anti-dysmenorrhea, immunity and metabolism regulation. It can be used for resisting platelet aggregation and thrombus formation, for hemopoiesis and anti-anemia, and for antihypertensive and protecting cardiovascular system. It can also be used for relieving asthma, protecting gallbladder and liver, promoting cell multiplication, as well as for anti-bacterial, anti-virus, anti-radiation, anti-tumor and so on. Clinically, Danggui appears frequently in the commonly used traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation, and it can cure many kinds of diseases.Because of the component complexity of the traditional Chinese medicine, it is jug-handled to evaluate the quality of certain traditional Chinese medicine by only one component. For the consummation of Angelica sinensis quality criteria, we carried out the qualitative analysis on the 10 batches of Danggui with Danggui reference substance, ferulic acid and (Z)-ligustilide as controls. The quantitative study was carried out on (Z)-ligustilide which is the main component of the angelica oil, through GC, UV and TLC-scanning. We also analyzed the finger prints of the samples.(Z)-Ligustilide has been isolated through silica gel column and its purity is 98.51% by GC analysis, The extractive is confirmed as (Z)-ligustilide through structure characterization by UV, IR, MS, NMR and comparison with the related literatures.
