Research On Unstable Angina Treated By Wutou Chishizhi Tang

[Background] Angina, which consist of stable angina and unstable angina (shortened as UA) , is one type of Coronary Heart Disease. UA, which could shift to sudden death or acute myocardial infraction by many factors has drawn much more attention from clinician than before and become one of the focuses in cardiovascular research field.UA could be ascribed as "angina and obstruction of qi in the chest" in Traditional Chinese Medicine (shortened as TCM), which firstly advanced by zhang zhong jing in his famous medical works 《Synopsis of Prescriptions of Golden Cabinet》. Zhang has also pointed out that "insufficiency of yang" maybe the most important pathogenic mechanism of it and used "Wutou Chishizhi Tang" to treat patients diagnosed as "purplish clots caused by insufficiency of yang syndrome" , which today is still widely used for its effectiveness. In recent years, some TCM researches on UA has found that "insufficiency of yang" maybe one of the main syndrome type . A serial reaches on Sini Tang , one of the representative decoction for "insufficiency of yang" found that it could make patients who has taken PTCA (percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty) operation get higher living quality, doing no harms, and relative experiment has found that it could prevent the myocardium from ischemia-reperfusion injury.[Purpose] To explore the clinical efficiency and safeness of Wutou Chishizhi Tang so that further researches could be done in the future[Methods] The research is A randomized controlled trial. From Mar. 2005 to Mar. 2006, we collect 44 UA patients who met the diagnosis criterion from The First Affiliated hospital Of Guangzhou University of T. C. M and Zhong Shan Chinese Medicine Hospital , separating them randomly, 24 toke Wutou Chishizhi Tang plus standard western medicine as tested group and the rest toke placebo made from Chinese herbal plus the same western medicine as controlledgroup . During in hospital, We observe the change of their Chinese and Western Medicine syndrome, check and review the ECG (electrocardiogram) and do some experiment tests to appraise their states[Result] In the tested group, 18 has shown remarkable clinical symptom change ,4 take a favor and 2 show no effect .total effective percentage is 91.65% , compared to that of 14> 4> 2 and 90%in the controlled group. Advancement of TCM syndrome remark in the tested group are 79. 95%, and 68. 84% of that in the controlled group .which shows significance difference (P<0. 05), especially in "insufficiency of the heart-yang" syndrome (P= 0.02), the improvement in ECG and some experiment tests show no significance difference between both groups.1 patient stopped taking Wutou Chishizhi Tang(P<0. 05), No worse patients were found in both groups.[Conclusion] Wutou chishizhi Tang is safe for UA. It can improve the TCM syndrome remarkably, especially for "insufficiency of the heart-yang" syndrome , It is significant to carry out deeper study on this decoction.
