Xianglingcao is an plant amedica that is mainly used to treat the disease of dizzying ,tinnitus and deafness caused by insufficient of liver and kidney on area of Guang an,in Sichuan province.It is the herba of Fabaceous plant-Crotalaria ferruginea Grah.It is also called Gouxiangling,Malingcao,huanghua Yebaihe etc.The drug is commonly used in civil.Xianglingcao can treat tinnitus,deafhess,coughing up phlegm andblood,dizzing,wetdream,chronicnephritis,cystitis,kidneystone,amygdalitis ,adenolymphitis,furunculosis,ulcer,irregular menses etc. It is distributed overYunnan province, Sichuan province, and Guizhou province in China.There is not yet the report about the research of its constituent and quality.In order to make better use of this plant,a systematic research of the plant was carried out as following.In this paper, the pharmacognostical study on Xianglingcao(Crotalaria ferruginea Grah.). is reported, including external structures and morphological characters.The coarsely powdered of C. ferruginea Grah. was extracted with water, and 7 components were isolated from the extract.
